Already ready to get my next cham to add on to my collection with my veiled

This is all I have set up in his cage as of now. I'm fixing to go to the dollar store and find something I can use to prop his cage up and something nice and big for the water to drain into. Im going to go to hobby lobby and pick up some fake plants to put in there.

My local pet store has veiled's all the time and they recently got a shipment of blue barred ambilobe's in in June from Screameleons. They're about 2 1/2 months old and I'm gona go and observe them for a while and find the one that looks to most out going and strong.

A couple questions about a new panther at this age:

What wattage of heat bulb should I use at this age? 60w?

At what percent should his humidity be at?

What age can I feed him small horn worms? (about 1.5")
What about super's?

I know chameleons are very visual animals. What color of fake plant should I get?

Here's the drainage system. Its just a small 16x16x20 cage. I have a branch with a couple leaves that are on it in there as of right now, about to go get more plants.

60 watt might be a little high but could work fine also depending on your house temps. I would have basking at around 85-90 so play around with wattage. Humidity pretty much same as your Veild. you can feed both when you want as long as they are small enough. That is the most important thing to make sure the feeders are not too big. As far as the plants I would get whatever color you want. I have seen red, yellow, orange etc. Anything should be fine.

humidity should be 30-80 spray your cage a couple of times a day, let it dry out between each spray and the heat depends other things you want the basking temp to be around 80-85 you can regulate it with different watts ( you can use regular household light bulbs ) and the fake plants can really be any color but i would go for green and a natural rain forest look, avoid worms untill their bigger because most worms are pretty large, supers have a hard shell and shouldnt be given to small chameleons, ask screameleons if they really sent to that store as some stores can lie which means theres somthing fishy. good luck man dont rush it make sure you have the husbandry down

Well I'll try and get some pictures posted up here in a sec on what I got so far coming along. I got everything at dollar general, all plants were washed down properly with soap and water (I think they look really pretty :) ). I raised the cage up for the drainage system to work with 6 stands made of 8 separate no scratch pads that you put on the bottom of chairs, all stacked on top of each other lol. They're pretty stable, they'll do for now until I find a better way to raise it up. I also got a magnetic pencil holder that I'll be able to put treats in.

Does anyone use a hammock? I saw them at the pet store and I thought it would be a nice bed for them if they actually used it lol.

And I also just bulk ordered 1000 crickets. I'll have to seperate them into seperate bins depending on size I guess : l

Good luck with your new baby, I just got a baby as well. Lucky for him I breed hornworms, silkworms, Dubia roaches, and now mantids, so luckily him i have all sizes, even tiny! So far he eats crickets, roaches and has had a couple Minni meal worms. He will get to check out silks and horns here shortly, if you want to start a small amount of horns let me know as we have eggs going now.

If you start with hornworm eggs you can let them grow just until they are below the right size. Then start putting them in the refrigerator for 1-2 days and take them out for 1 day min. This will drastically allow their growth rate to decrease.

Good Luck, let me know if i can help

Cage so far. Thinken about sticken a pothos in the middle, What do you guys think?

At some of the dollar stores or if you have a .99 cent store, you can find some bamboo sticks for really cheap. Put a few of those in there vertically, diagonally and horizontally. Add a lot more foliage and you'll be set! ;)

Have you tested out that bottom to see if it drains? I started to try to do mine that way but the water didn't want to go through, even when we made the holes bigger. I ended up making screen bottom instead with support for the plant. See pics in thread below.

Ive been meaning to test it. Im going to put a plant in the middle and it will center the gravity of the way the water will flow hopefully lol. I'll see what I can do.

I looked all around my dollar tree and Couldnt find anything like that. I looked forever. I'm going to hobby lobby tommorow for some good plants to stick in there and I will keep an eye out for some sticks :D

If you dont mind spending the $$, Kammer's has pre-cleaned sticks of all different sizes on their website.

I decided to buy some since the dogwood tree in my back yard is looking a little bare from me cutting branches off!!

I was thinken about get a bio vine. They have them at my pet store, or something similar to them. Would look nice going around a pothos.

Ok so im officially about to go get him. I'll post pics when I get his cage set up and him in it for the first time :D

This is good advice. You can contact us at [email protected] to see if they are dealers of ours. There are many petstores that try to pass off other peoples chameleons as ours. Some have even posted photos of our stock in their stores. If you are unsure don't hesitate to contact us.

I sent you guys an e-mail. The pet store didn't have a picture of the sire, or a phone number of the guy they got them from....I remember now they even said "Yah and we're still waiting on the guy to give us his phone number" (as if they were making it obvious that they didnt have any way to contact him so i wouldn't ask)...Now that i think about, they seemed REALLY FREAKEN suspicious....Please E-mail me back.

I'm still happy I got the lil fella though, he's the cutest, I just installed the mist king finnally! :D
