A new pet?

I have a glass terrarium (36x18x18) that I'm not using since my cham was moved into a screen cage. Any suggestions on a good pet suited for this? I know it's not good for chams and I'd like something that is pretty easy to care for.

Could use it for a pygmy, but it would be perfect for geckos, invertebrates, tropical snakes, or other tropical lizards. Or a frog/toad

I've been thinking leopard geckos maybe, I want something that I won't get sick easily because I can't really afford taking multiple animals to the vet. I know things can always go wrong with any animal though.

Also sorry I just noticed this is probably in the wrong section

Look into a crested gecko, I think they would do better in a tank like that.

it would be good for crested, gargoyle, tokay or day geckos. red eye tree frogs, giant waxy monkey tree frogs, whites tree frogs, vietnam mossy frogs. just to name a few things

Pygmies or Poison Dart Frogs would be perfect.

I don't know of many dart frog keepers that go to the vet much there can be problems of course but you're going to get a captive (WCs are poison) and from a reputable place you shouldn't ever need to go to the vet.

I'd say get leopard geckos because they are adorable, but that tank isn't really leopard gecko friendly. So much wasted space for them.

Unless you're talking about the long tank? Like the exo terra one?

I have a crested gecko. I love them. They are only active at night. But I love the way they look. Get a crested gecko.

It is the long exo terra one, yes. I'll put up an image of it. Sorry for the weird angle :p

I've looked up on the crested geckos a bit and they seem pretty cool. I'm not sure about set up though, anyone have recommendations on what type of floor is best and food? I've seen people using moss, rocks, bark, or just paper towels and I read there is a dry diet food you can get for them but do they need bugs/fruit as well or is it just optional?

I think frogs would be cool too but they probably can't be handled alot so I'm a bit more hesitant.

They don't need a substrate while they are young. There is a chance that they might swallow some substrate while they are hunting for food and cause impaction. I just use paper towels for my crested gecko. They don't need and type of bugs either. Their main diet can consist on crested gecko diet. It's a powder that you mix with water and they will eat that. Some people say you can feed them baby food, but don't do that. It is bad for them because of all the natural sugars.

Here is a link to what the food looks like.

Some people handle their frogs regularly depending on the species.

African Bull Frogs and White's tree frogs seem to be the ones most handled but African Bull Frogs can bite pretty good if you get a mean one.

Cresties are cool and that would work for a few. They are "tree" dwelling as well so tall works better then wide. If you are serious about them check out http://www.pangeareptile.com/forums/index.php Also here is my viv set up for them http://www.pangeareptile.com/forums/showthread.php?57652-First-Naturalistic-viv&highlight=clarkrw3

Thanks for all the info guys :)
My last big question right now is how many would be suitable for a tank that size, for frogs or crested geckos? I don't want any surprise babies so I'd rather not get any females but I know males are likely to fight if there are multiples in one area. Should I just stick to one or would it be too much extra space?

If you are getting multiple cresties get two females and not two males. But just like people just because you have two of them doesn't mean the will live together happily LOL

This is the same tank i have waiting to be home to some leopard geckos!

Get multiple females if you want many together, but no babies. too much space for one gecko! :)

for a tank that size 1 male with 3 females, or if you dont want to worry about breeding 4 females you can always put less in there but aslong as plenty of things to climb on and lots of places to hide are offered multiples shouldn't be a problem. To help make sure they get along its best to get them all young
