A New Member to the Greenhouse Gang (Charles)

Motherlode Chameleon

Chameleon Enthusiast
There is a new member to the greenhouse and his name is Charles. Charles is a 6 month male Trioceros deremensis and is the product of luevelvet's (Luis) breeding programs. It was overcast today and he was showing light colors. Charles zapped a superworm about 5 minutes after these pictures were taken. If you were wondering I mostly use branches from near by trees for my 2x2x4 cages.:D

Incredible looking animal you have there. Those blue spots spread across his dorsal area are phenomenal :D

do you use visual partitions? i see the cages arent side by side but ive had some seriously stressed chams that could see one another from around 4 ft away. then again that was a male and a female. and it was only male tryin to get at her.

super cute btw for some reason theyve always reminded me of flounder, not that flounder are cute

and thats weird that you got a deremensis from him because I messaged him a few weeks ago trying to get a pair from him and never got a response..., same thing when I tried getting a pair of montiums from monties1982, no response. Guess its a sign that I shouldnt get them

looking good, those horns are coming along nicely. :)

Thanks they are!

I have not got any visual barriers currently in the greenhouse. As there are only three chameleons living inside and each are separated by one complete cage with multiple plants. Meaning one complete cage with plants is a visual barrier currently in the greenhouse. When the greenhouse is complete I'm planning on putting in visual barriers.

what happened to the baby matschiei?

I was keeping him in the aquarium room not the greenhouse. He was to small for the greenhouse.

I have got to terribly regret to say he passed last Tuesday. There had been problems feeding fruit flies to babies in the same clutch that ended up killing a good number of his clutch. Due to slowed feeding and some concerns I fed some fruit flies to him the night before and he seemed OK and was eating great and looked healthy. The next day I woke up Tuesday morning misted his cage and decided give him some more fruit flies. He started hunting immediately and was looking good. I came back to the apartment after about 2.5 hours of lecture and he was dead. I could not believe he died that quick after how good he was looking only 2.5 hours earlier. It cut me well short of how much I was looking forward to working with Joey and ironically I had Blue Bottle Flies arriving in the mail sometime next week. Which these babies are reportedly feeding on without problems. I want to work with K. matschiei in the furture and post pictures of my Usambara chameleon duo (T. deremensis and K. matschiei) however I'm not going to buy another K. matschiei for a while.

The male that I got from him he set aside for me well in advance (A couple of weeks ago). I think it was his last male.
