A memorable day

Well today was the VERY first time this happened. He was in his enclosure, walking about, being a chameleon. I was giving him some water and after misting the enclosure for a minute, I held out my hand in front of him. After a few seconds, he walked right on. This is the first time this ever happened. I did not lure him, nothing in his enclosure scared him, there was no food tempting him to go on my hand, he just walked on it all on his own. I decided to take him outside for some sunshine, which he seemed to enjoy. He crawled on my shoulder and neck and eventually he climbed into my hair! This felt interesting and ticklish, my hair is rather long and wavy. So he had a lot to grab onto and just climbed his way to the top of my head. It was awesome! He's still sitting on my shoulder now. I'll probably let him stay here with me for a bit longer then put him back.

Just in case you're wondering, he is a 5 month old jackson chameleon. His name is, Tricky.

It was wonderful but there are still a few things today brought out that concern me. The first thing is that he seems to try to reach up to grab something, like an invisible branch to the point where he would fall if I do not catch him time after time again. This only happens in doors, particularly walking up and down the stairs.

The only other thing which isn't really a concern to me, is that he is just so inquisitive and curious. He needs to explore everything after relaxing for a few minutes. He climbed down my leg to the floor and tried to climb the door but obviously could not and kept falling. I had to pick him up and I did but he just kept trying to climb and for a moment gaped at me, and continued to gape until I put him back.

Then, a few minutes later I offered him a cricket and he climbed onto my hand again to get it, and wouldn't go back inside so I brought him down again. He did fine, no gaping, no stress colours but still wanted to reach up to grab something invisible when bringing him back to his enclosure.

Any thoughts?
