A little out of the ordinary

Puckering for a kiss?

Thank you for all the compliments. I don't usually post much about my collection... in fact this might be my fourth thread ever. Thanks Kent for noticing. :p

To answer a few questions, yes the species is Chamaeleo trioceros goetzei goetzei or Goetze's Chameleon. They come from a very small area of southern Tanzania. These guys are rarely imported, in fact have to be farm raised or F1 stock to leave Tanzania at all. I think only 2 females were exported in 2007 and one female in 2006 (Mrs Goetzei Three). The original trio that I picked up in 2005 (some that are pictured here) were the first ones out of Tanzania in many years. If I wasn't so technologically challenged I'd record/post a sound wave as this species actually makes an audible squeaking sound when threatened. These guys are truly the jewels of my collection and I absolutely love working with them. I'm currently cycling the group for their early spring mating period, so wish me luck with that.

And a few full body pictures. Hopefully some of these pics will give an indication of size - they aren't big at all. My biggest female (the girls are larger than the boys) is a whopping 20g.

Gorgeous photos and what a real treat the Chams are. They look like little china dolls, almost have a delicate fancy to them.

They are gorgeous Trace. Are they the ones you picked up at Hamburg that day I bumped into you at the show? I was pretty sure that's what you showed me...

Yeah, that would be them! Your memory is far better than mine. Geez. That seems like ssssoooo long ago now.

It's been a while since I've been to a Hamburg or White Plains show too. Who wants to do a road trip this summer?

Cheers,

They are amazing! I always enjoy pics of the little snowflakes:D How often do you come to the states? I only live 2 hours from Hamburg. The NARBC show in Chantily Virginia is much much nicer than the Hamburg show. The only person who had a legit setup for chams was Chuck G. A lot of the other booths were rather gross to say the least:mad:

I'm soooo tempted to fly out to PA, rent a car with Kevin and do the road trip the rest of the way? I'll wait for my invitation though. LOL :D

They look great Trace! That road trip was a great time! I don't know of anywhere you can see that diversity of chameleon species in a 2 day period anymore though.

I am still drooling. Those are absolutely beautiful and so healthy. You do a good job! I hope your family has a bunch of little eggs to hatch babies out of. Thank you for sharing.

Trace,

Stunning photos! Did you use the D50 for these? You have a great eye and certainly do them justice! What healthy animals, too.

Can you elaborate on your cycling methods, and whether you use this across the board on the rest of your montanes?

Cheers,

Fabián

Trace does Fantastic work with them!
No eggs though .... these are "live bearers" (ovoviviporous)
This is an extremely difficult species.
They look awesome (as always) Trace!
