I've been posting in the health clinic mainly, but I didn't realize there was a place to introduce yourself until this morning!
My name is Tara and I'm a fairly new herp enthusiast. I'm a pre-med student living in Kansas City and about a year away from medical school. This past year for my honors biology research class I have participated in a study of lizards in the genus Ameiva from Hispaniola for SSD (Sexual size dimorphism) with my mentor who has been studying lizards and publishing articles for 20 years! At first I was a little apprehensive, knowing nothing about lizards (I was previously, and still am, into cute and furry things.
) But his influence has made me very interested in herps as well!
Several weeks ago I purchased my first chameleon, and only later did I read that a chameleon as a first herp is a bad idea. So I did everything I possibly could to educate myself, and while researching, I found this forum! Fred came to us with a severe vitamin deficiency, but a vet visit, research and the applied time to keep him nourished and hydrated has proved well, and he is happy as ever now!
I look forward to chatting with you guys, and its a pleasure to meet all the people who gave me good advice about Fred when I initially joined.
