I had to share these with everyone. He's grown so much in the last 3 months. See my Profile album for pics from when I first got him.

He is an impressive looking guy, with a nice tall casque :) I really like the set up you have for him too. The spotty pattern is a calm tolerant Veileds way of telling you to leave him alone, I think he's about to go into his teenage phase so don't be too concerned if he gets even more 'distant' for a while, it's just a phase..... he probably won't ever be 'friendly' though, unfortunately.....

Sorry to respond late, out of town.

Thanks for your comments, and a little insight to his color pattern. I tend to agree with your "teenage phase" guess, his eating patterns have changed substantially, less and feeder "strikes". Light handling to get him off his free range after a few hours has been accomplished without too much hissing or biting attempts. So that's a plus. However, I typically get the color pattern in the first photo, he is never happy about it. I'm most concerned about trips to the vet. I haven't taken him yet, and know I should. Fishing him out of that "nice" set up...is a... well you know, trying to grab a five armed iron gripped ball of run or bite! ;)

Caesar is a handsome little man. How old is he now?

I purchased him as a "junvenile" mid-July. His color and size had me thinking he was about four months old. Which would make him close to 7 months. However, if colors begin changing around 5 months, I'm thinking now he is closer to 6 months.

Any guesses from anyone who has viewed his album here? He's my first so I don't have anything to compare him with. :)

At our first vet visit. As you can see he was a bit tense.:D He did suprisingly well riding in the car and with the vet doing her business looking him over. Cracks me up how he looks out the window as we drive along.:p

How did the vet appointment turn out? He is a gorgeous Veiled.

Thanks for your comment and interest. I went to get him established, as well as answer some questions regarding some snorting Caesars been doing, his weight, and some recent plant eating.

His tail is more triangular than round right now. Doc says the tail will fatten up as he gets older and back on his normal diet. He's being a typical teenager with a bit of a food strike on crickets.

The snorting could be just clearing of his nostrils or the expelling of extra minerals, he's been doing this since I got him. His mouth looked good, no extra mucus. Doc advised me that if it was a RI he would be in rough shape by now. Although, he said keep an eye on it.

The plant eating (pothos) is normal and a part of growing up. Any suggestions on other fruits or plants to offer?

Overall it went good. He complimented me on my husbandry techniques (always good to get a pat on the back), which is really a compliment to this forum and it's resources.

Enclosure Specs

what kind of cage is that or is it totally free range? he is very handsome!

Thanks for your comments Leza.:D The enclosure was a do-it-yourself build. The enclosed space measures 50"X20"X56". The top being 74" from the floor. It is a Real Organized 74" inch shelving Unit puchased at Lowe's $79. During assembly I omitted the middle shelves, cut four holes in a piece of masonite (50"X20") to allow it to slip down over the four corner poles creating a solid floor on the lower shelf, then enclosed the whole thing with screen replacement kits/screen (Maybe another $125) bought at Lowe's. For the top door panel, I used some U shaped metal slides I found at Lowe's and some JB weld (an epoxy glue for metal), so the top panel could slide down over the bottom front panel for access, metal pins at the top hold it closed. I just take it off completely, it bothers my cham less. To clean, I remove several screws from the bottom front panel and I have complete access. The top shelf provides an easy place to mount misting heads with the addition of a few washers, a hanging plant basket, or vines. A small hole in the screen above the misting heads allows for a tight fit around the tubing fittings and prevents escapees. The toughest part of this build is keeping the large screen panels square when building. Recently I picked up some caster wheels so it is a bit mobile.

The free range is created by an artifical tree a few feet to the left the enclosure (not pictured) with vines to the tree, hanging plant, potted plant, and window with basking sticks. I let him out for a few hours in the morning, then back to the enclosure for food and drinks. In the afternoon I let him out for a shorter time, then back to the enclosure for food and drinks and bedtime. Occassionally I see him go back on his own to grab a quick bite, but I've never seen him drink. Free ranging him for these periods has done wonders breaking him of a cricket feeder strike and previous handling issues.

If haven't reviewed my profile album, I suggest looking there to see some better pics of his enclosure, misting head mountings and other features.

Very nice free range! Your Veiled also looks fantastic.

This thread is old! Give us some updated pics! :)

This thread is old (2 weeks)? It has been updated regularly with pics and videos. But askin' a cham owner for pics is like takin' candy from a baby. :D

After refusing to come home.
