4 Month old Panther Chameleon FALLING! :(

Hello, I just bought my chameleon today he is my first and when i took him home he was fine active and moving around till i was getting ready to turn the lights off he fell off of one of hi branches. I panicked and was scared it would happen again and surely enough it did. He has been climbing on the top of the cage inside it and im worried that if i turn the lights off he'll keep falling. Any advice would help!!

*EDIT* is his screen cage to big for him, its an 18x18x32 reptibreeze. and hes only the size of the first two joints on my finger.

It happens with chameleons..put more branches/vines in the enclosure, and alot of plants on the bottom to cushion them. They are clumsy sometimes, or just lose grip other times...Has definitaley kept me awake at nights before. Just keep an eye out for bruising, and maybe rearrange the enclosure to discourage falling. Good luck.

He's not used to the cage yet. Try dimming the lights to simulate dusk rather than going to total darkness until he settles into a roost spot comfortably.

yes i was unsure whether to turn off the lights so i decided to put a very dim nightlight on by the bottom of the cage
