please help my female veiled now is in to her 35th day ov been pregnant she layed 11 eggs 21 days into her pregnancy but covered up the eggs got out the sand,she went back into the sand on day 30 but digged 4-5 inches then got out and hasnt been in there since am i going to lose her ?

Are the eggs that she laid on day 21 viable? Are you incubating them? Does she still look like she has eggs?

all the eggs shes layed have all caved in in the incubator ,she has lots of eggs still showing in her body

im incubating them at 80f in vermiculite but they have all caved in and yes she still has many eggs inside her

Since you didn't tell me if it was her first breeding, I will assume it was....this is my opinion of what I have seen happen. I have no documentation to back it up....just my experiences.

What I think happens is this....it seems that depending on where a female was in the cycle when mated she may have had (infertile) eggs that were too far formed to be fertilized. These eggs seem to be dumped fairly quickly after the mating (thus the 21 day laying). The next clutch should be fertile eggs that are produced from the mating....and for some reason, they seem to be laid sooner than the normal 30ish days. The only thing that is bothering me about yours is that you said she dug at the 35 day mark from the mating and then didn't dig for the next few days.

Have you been letting her see you watching her when she is digging?

How is she? Is she acting normally...eating, drinking, etc. or is she lethargic and inactive and has her eyes closed?

If you suspect that she is becoming eggbound, then I can only recommend that you get her to a vet ASAP.

she is drinking lots of water but not eating she is still very mobile but doing a lot of basking i think the reason she stopped diggin on day 30 was because my other female went into the sand with her and i think it upset her because she started hissin at her would it be best to get the other female out of the viv ?

i was told #1 rule concerning chameleon care was to keep them seperate....

I agree...the two females should not be housed together. It's very stressful to them, so it very well could be one of the major stressors preventing her from laying.

As was already suggested...you need to separate the chameleons...only one should be in a cage and they should not be able to see each other even when in separate cages.

You could end up with an eggbound female if she is prevented from laying her eggs.

Drinking lots of water can be an indication that she is near egglaying time....and so is not eating.
