Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon – Male Veiled Chameleon, around 3-4 months, has been with me for 1 month since I bought him from a pet store. He is around 12cm for body without counting tail and 3-4cm wide. There is another female veiled chameleon with only 1/2 of his size but with similar age. (I bought him and her at the same time in the shop)
Handling - I handle him about once a day to let him climb out of the cage.
Feeding - I fed him crickets only. Crickets are put in a small plastic bowl in day time I’m away from home and usually the crickets would be eaten when I back home. He eats 5-6 crickets in small size when he first came and later on increase to 10-12 small crickets in the second week. Then I start feeding him with medium size crickets and he can eat for around 10 in a day in the 3rd and 4th week.
How are you gut-loading your feeders? Carrots (mainly), cabbage, corn, pumpkins
Supplements – Repti Calcium (without D3), Reptivitamin (with D3)
Only 2-3 crickets heavily dusted calcium crickets are fed few days in a week, others are not dusted, while 2 days in a week will also include the Reptivitamin
Watering – water pump with running water; only see him drink once so far. He eats soil of real plants several times a day I notice, I guess it would be used to help him digest
Fecal Description - My chamelons urate is mostly white and his poop is dark brown to black, similar to the colour of the soil he eats. My chamelon hasn't been tested for parasites
History – He was very active for the first month and he has been shedding skin for 2 times in the first 2.5 weeks. He has been growing really fast and the body size has increased for more than 2 times in a month. He looks healthy and active and eager to eat cricket everytime when we feed him.

Cage Info:
Cage Type - have a screen cage. It's 23x16x18 (inch).
Lighting - I am using reptisun 5.0 uvb and reptisun basking light 60W (day time)/ red night bulb 65W (night time)
Temperature - It is about 24C degree on uvb side while around 38 degree at basking spot in day /night. I have a digital thermometer in both side.
Humidity – Humidity level at uvb side is around 50% while only 20% at basking spot. Spray in the morning and night twice but both chams are not interested.
Plants – There are two plants which are small and they couldn’t hide there. He seems not that interested in the plant but the moisten soil while she is interested on the leaves of one of the plant. She eats the plant’s leave every day.
Placement – in the middle of the dining room and with fan, but as it’s winter here, never use. The ventilation is fair. areas?

Location – Hong Kong, temperature around 10 – 20 degree.

Current Problem – He stop eating suddenly and today already the 3rd day. He has no interest on eating and he seems don’t like me to approach him. He is trying to escape and hide behind those fake leaves. He walks shaky and most of the time he is just very wide and lying on the branch, for a long time. I also see him go down to the bottom of the cage for 1-2 times in these few days. While he is at the basking area (not the hottest spot), he has his one eye shut which I have never seen him shut his eye in the day time. His action is also slower than before he seems sensitive to everything around him.

Not sure is it because of the temperature as the first day he doesn’t eat is the temperature has dropped to around 10 degree in HK.

others will also be here to help but what pops out at me are three things.

Soil eating can lead to impaction. You need to cover the dirt with river rocks or something like them so they can not get to it.

Try showering them to increase hydration, may be impacted and this MIGHT help.
do not let the spray hit them directly- have it it a wall and bounce onto them warm water- or soak them they will probably not like either.

Supplements should be
Calcium without D3 every day light dusting not making them into ghosts
Calcium w D3 2 times amonth
Vitamins 2 times a Month

Your Vitamins have D3 so
they could be over supplemented

Get rid of the night light completely- they like darkness to sleep like you and I

Try getting more types of insects. He may be bored of them. Also 5-6 crickets for his age, I would try giving him about 10-12 just to get his weight back up. Try silkworms, hornworms, waxworms, and butterworms to get him back up to weight. I just had this issue with my adult Panther, he wouldn't eat for about a week. He was bored of dubia, crickets, and superworms. So I went to PetsMart and PETCO to load up on waxworms. He is now fatter and happier. I also did get Repta+Boost too. I would try getting him into the vet. Maybe get a fecal done to see if he has parasites.
It looks like you have substrate remove that and lay down paper towels or nothing at all. It will keep it cleaner and no chance of impaction. I would get a few live plants such as golden pothos, ficus, and schefflera arboricola. Make sure to clean off all the old soil and get a new pot. Put river rocks int he bottom for drainage for the plant, then replant it in organic soil. Add river stones to the top and add to the cage. It will increase humidity and they sometimes eat the plants. I know my 3 month old male Veiled loves plants already.

Thanks guys :)

He seems getting worse today though....trying to feed him water but he vomits ...:( and now he hides behind the rock and shut his eyes....

he still doesn't eat anything....i'm afraid he can't live for a week.....

He is very healthy active in just the past month.....and suddenly a big change and afraid of person...shaky walk....

what kind of plants are those? You said she eats the plants leaves daily? Maybe they are toxic? They look plastic to me. If he is eating plastic then yeah you got a problem.

Only the female eat leaves, the sick male only eats soil....
i don't know why he doesnt drink, no matter we use a rock running water, use the pump as same as the photo, spray, or drip using ice, he still don't drink. but i note his feaces looks wet and he was healthy in the past, i guess it would be because he eats moisten soil ...

the female looks fine so far...

Soil can cause an impaction depending on the type. Is soil coming through in he feces?
Again...is the chameleon eating plastic plants?????????

Do you have the male and female in the same cage?

and they don't eat plastic plants, i never see them eat, both female and male

we have a separate small plant. I don't know the name of that plant in English...but it seems they are not toxic as female eats for a month. You can see the plant are just 2/3 have no leaves as they are eaten by the female. Male only eats the soil several times a day

the female and male are in the same cage, as i think they are still small...and in the past month the male is dominant...and his size grows significantly bigger than the female in the past month....now he is 2 times bigger than the female while when they first come they are fairly similar in size

despite the fecal description...i think your chameleon is dehydrated and possibly has parasites. if it is possible i would get your chameleon in a shower chamber as soon as possible. if you need instructions on this pm me. i would also take both chameleons fresh droppings to a vet for analysis of parasites very soon. also by the emaciated condition this has been going on either for longer than stated or the chameleon is not eating frequently as stated. If he does not have parasites he is more than likely impacted.

Its not recommended to keep two in the same cage. There can be a lot of (silent) stress between them that usually lowers the immune system of one or both of them and leads to death.

The plant looks like a sensitive plant (mimosa pudica)...do the leaves fold up when they are touched?

Eating soil is thought to mean that the chameleon is lacking something in its diet.

the plant is mimosa type and is a small plant.

i've try to give him water, but he doesn't want to drink. He seems very reluctant to water today. I always think he would be dehydrated as i seldom see him drink...but as l need to work in the day time and i can only monitor his feaces. Feaces looks healthy, wet with white urea spot, and the colour is similar to the soil....

if he starts eating things again...of course i'll dust the calcium without D3 to him...but he just don't eat....:( and shut his eyes now....

Also, the vet in HK doesn't know how to diagnose chameleon...so no where i can take him to the vet, or do any parasite test....
and also for feeders...it's way difficult to buy feeders other than crickets in HK. I already asked several pet shops before and all of them can only offer crickets....and they are way still young...i don't know are they really feel bored on eating...

For spray, i can use a mist machine longer time...but in the past they have no preference showing they have any difference in a more humid area or dryer area...they seem doesn't care even we spray a lot...

Can i know the reason of take the waterfall out?

Initially they are really running with water and both chams drink the first 2 days...but later on i found them don't drink. And after a week i found that they feaces on the water and some crickets also go there, making the water very smelly and dirty, so i stop using them to feed water, but just keep it there as decoration...
so if the waterfall is not good for decoration i can remove them

what you stated is the reason for not having a water fall. they can cause some issues if not cleaned regularly. if you want to leave it in the cage without water thats fine.

Get him in a shower treatment as soon as you can.

if no vet around you has a microscope to do a fecal. if you have the money and the will to learn.... maybe purchase your own microscope and slides.
