I am sure all you have now heard of the Sandy Hook shootings - how sad it is - breaks my heart- we all need to hug our kids tight, and send a prayer for those families

so emotional/pissed off over this.....

Yes this is beyond horrific. I just cannot imagine. To tell you the truth I don't really want to imagine what is going through all those parents and families minds right now. It is a shame children and teacher have to endure that. They should just be able to go to school and teach and learn. They should NEVER have to worry about some idiot or instable person/child coming in and killing them.... Just cannot phantom what they will have to live with for the rest of their lives. Chardon High School here in Ohio had that happen last year it was another teenager.
Why can't these things be prevented? I just don't understand.

I am shocked, saddened, horrified and disgusted with what is happening in Connecticut! When incidents like this happen I truly believe there is no God. If there was, crap like this wouldn't happen. So many families affected...so close to Christmas. Makes me sick to my stomach.

RIP little ones, RIP all of you. :(

I know, how sad it is- I could not wait for my kids to get home today , well, I am glad to see them everyday, but today, seemed so long for them to get home

absolutely awful, I definitely held my children tight!!! Both were home as their schools were striking!! glad they were close!! Can't image what those families are going through!!

As of 5 tonight the count was 20 children and 7 adults (sick mother f@#&* included)

I was babysitting my nephew when it came on this morning and I just picked him up and held him tight and showered him in kisses.

I'm not a parent yet, but I can't imagine what they are going through and to the newscasters: STOP INTERVEIWING THE KIDS AND SHOWING THE SAME PICS OVER AND OVER.

It is a tragedy, and the poor babies are already traumatized enough.

I can't comprehend how some sick ****er can just go and kill children! I mean (and please nobody take this wrong) if you are that miserable that you are going to kill yourself and think you'll do it with a bang and hurt innocent people- don't! Especially children. I spent 90% of my day crying and couldn't change the channel..I needed to know what was happening.

I believe in God, and while I think He should intervene...the only thing that gives me comfort is that those children automatically go to heaven.

I know a lot of people don't like the President, but seeing him emotional like that was touching for me. He was right..we have seen too many of these situations even just since I was born. Something needs to change.

I can't even imagine what those families are going through...as a mother, when I try to picture hearing that news--that my child's school is under siege--my mind blanks. It's inconceivable...but they have to deal with it.

I'm a a Russian living in the UK. There's no school shootings here or in Russia, apart from occasional Raul Moat or something along the lines. How long is it going to take for the American government to change the gun laws? How many more children should die? How many more parents will have to bury their 7 yo babies?
When I read the news, the strongest emotion I felt was anger. I'm f***ing angry that this was possible! Such things should not happen, and I hope Mr. Obama takes immediate action against gun crimes.

My heart goes out to the families of the victims. It's so horrible...

my heart and prayers go out to all those victoms and families. and to the teachers that gave their lives to protect their students.:(

Our deepest sympathies and prayers go out to our friends south of the border that were touched by this horrific incident. How someone could do this is beyond my comprehension.

Whenever I hear about things like this all I can think about is when my mom dad, 13 year old neighbor and I found his family murdered in their home. I was 6. I can say from experience that it hasn't fully hit those children yet. Yes it has impacted them severely, but they haven't fully processed it yet. Interviewing them, they may seem like they were fine, but in a couple days they won't be.

The media needs to stop sensationalizing these sick ****s and focus on the victims. Try and remember just one of their names instead of the monster that took their lives. By sensationalizing the monster, the media is just sparking a fire in the next sick mother ****er.

Something needs to change. And I agree with that. Make it harder to buy guns. Make a person go through like a psych eval. Or like jump through hoops. But don't make this tragedy into an "anti gun" campaign. Just mourn the children and pray for the families.

I read somewhere that one of the little boys in one of those classrooms told his teacher "I don't want to die. I want to spend Christmas with my family not in heaven..."

Mourning the victims and praying for their families doesn't help with the politics which caused this event.

Gun control is not the only issue, though I hope this does spark a debate and action about it.

Crazies will get guns illegally, so you also need to fix your mental health care programs.

Violent media has to go.

Media focus on tragedy like this has to go.

I say if you want to pray, pray, but then pick an issue and if you have the will, DO something about it. It's sad that the Canadian and the Russian are the ones saying action needs to be taken, but the Americans talk about praying.....Change your views and then change your country. The Second Amendment was given to you to take up arms against the government when it became tyrannical, oppressive, controlling governments. The government has become such a thing, but the innocent are killed, not the insidious....

US Public killed with guns: over 9,000
Tyrants in the US killed by any means: 0

Don't want to start a political debate, but this kind of tragedy warrants a discussion between all citizens.

It really is a horrible tragedy. But suggesting implementation of stricter gun laws will some how prevent these relatively rare occurrences is absurd. People who want to hurt others will find weapons to commit crimes. Criminals do not obey laws, so how can one suggest that laws will curb criminal activity. Look at DC and Chicago gun laws and how they are the most strict in the nation yet have a high gun-related crime rate. As long as there are guns being manufactured in the world, there will be a black market and these guns will eventually end up in the hands of criminals. People who are law abiding citizens do not murder individuals and should be allowed to own guns to protect themselves from these nuts who want to do harm to them. Implementing professionally trained and armed security staff in schools seems to be the only way to deter these attacks. One other defensive shooter in Aurora or in CT could have scared the shooter away. God bless the kids and their families, and thank God the shooter killed himself so we don't have to look at him or pay to put him through the court system.
