1st time breeder

Hi all, I was curious about what to do with the babies after they hatch, I mean where do I sell them, or give them away? I am interested in breeding since day 1 but my major worry is to have too many mouths to feed and house. I could defiantly take care of several babies for awhile but the thought of having 20+ adults is scaring me pretty bad. Also do any of you breeders destroy eggs before they hatch to keep populations in your house low, or is that unethical?

Your ethical dilemma is yours to determine. Everyone has a different degree of morality .

Personally , I wouldn't knowingly terminate a fertile egg. Someone else who would , may have a compelling arguement.

Just before my babies are up for sale, i usually run around town to talk to petstore owner specialized in reptile to see if they are interested. I will usually take down the order and once they are at least 2 months old, they will be up for sale. Company like LLL Reptile and Reptile depot will buy chameleon in bulk of 20 - 30 babies....... with an acceptable price. A lot of breeder actually uses this forum to sell their chameleon too. They usually posted a thread a couple of weeks before they are ready for new home. I do not terminate the eggs myself....since all the chameleon produced will be sold sooner or later,...so just take some time to sell them!:D

Thanks Pohchunyee that is kinda what I was wondering. I don't want to terminate a fertile egg ever but I was afraid there might be problems finding homes for all the little ones and couldn't think of a way to regulate how many eggs hatch other than destroying some. But if it isn't so hard finding homes for them then I guess it doesn't really matter.

At the very least, sell them for what it cost you to feed them for the 3 months that you were raising them up nice and healthy. That's doing it out of pure enjoyment, which is also cool :)
