18 inch UVB question

OK, quick question, I have a DYI cage coming in tomorrow for my Cham. I have been using a CFL type 5.0 Reptisun and I have had a few people tell me that these are bad for Chams eyes. ( Coincidentally she has been keeping her eyes closed the last couple of days ) Anyway, I want to use a 18inch tube type bulb, but I can't seem to locate an 18 inch fixture / hood for it. Can I just use a regular fluorescent fixture from home depot / lowes?
Thanks!

Absolutely, and if it doesnt come with a reflector, you can make one w/ some polished tin/sheetmetal or even just plain old aluminum foil.

Yes you can get a fixture at Lowes or Home Depot.

The compact fluorescents USED to be a problem but changes were made and the new bulbs are fine. I use several on cages and free ranges with no problem.

I would make sure there is no other issue causing her to close her eyes.

All of my free range lights are fixtures from lowe's or home depot. Be sure NOT to use the plastic cover. You want the bare lamp exposed for maximum uvb exposure. Change your tubes every six months.

Is the reflecto necessary? How would you do this if you used a homedepot or Lowes fixture.
Sorry for jumping in thought this would be a good question for this topic. Thanks:)
