I went to go clean one of my cages today and I put the chameleons together in the same cage. 5 minutes later I heard I noise. I thought that they were attacking each other so I ran over there to check. When I saw he was on top of her on her back side getting busy. It lasted about only 5 seconds. I'm a little worried about this. I didn't think that this would happen, didn't even cross my mind because I thought that they were not mature yet. Now since she is only 14 weeks old, can she still produce the eggs or anything. She still doesn't even have all of her colors so how would i be able to tell if she is pregnant. Is anything going to happen. Please help my come up with some answers.

Wow, that is young. How old is your male?

I hope she doesn't produce eggs because of the brief encounter.

You will just have to wait and see. Please let us know if she does.

male might be about a week older he has a lot more colors than she does. she is only light green right now. Wish there was a way to tell right away.

Just noticed something. She is basking in the heat right now and I see that she has very light but darker green dots towards her stomach area. I know that robin blue dots mean she is pregnant, but since she doesn't have all of her colors are her greens a sign or not?

As Heika said, you'll probably just have to wait and see.
I don't know if she could actually produce eggs at this age....honestly
I would be really surprised, but having no experience ... couldn't even
guess.

Hey y'all,

Female veiled's usually become sexually mature between 3 1/2- 5 months of age (14-20 weeks:rolleyes: ). The fact that she was receptive to his advances shows that she was probably ready. Whether she "caught" or not is another question. I'd always heard that mating took around 10 minutes, but you'd have to ask the other veiled breeders about this. I have no first hand experience (not into cham porn...)

On the plus side, a veiled that is bred during its first receptive period are less likely to have problems becoming eggbound when they are gravid later on in life.

Good luck,
Matthew

My veileds get busy for a loong time, usually over half an hour, just doin it. You can usually tell if she is gravid by her coloration after 18 hours, usually. Not always. If they go kind of a brown, with yellow and blue/green spots, it's a good indication that they're knocked up. Here is one of my gravid girls:

Very hard to miss. And that's what you should be watching for. I noticed even the day after, they get antsy, cranky, and spend alot of time just wandering. Who knows what that's about...

How old is she in the picture? I don't think I will see that because she doesn't have all of her colors yet. Will I?

Well, I think I scared them because I jumped down to the floor, where they were, and she ran off. I think she was trying to get away and he couldn't hold on or something.
