I ordered 1000 silkworm eggs few times before but really do you get 1000 hatched silkworms??? I don't even think you get 500 new borns. I could be wrong? Any thoughts on this?

well....

I wouldn't order 1000 glued down. It is a lot harder to feed 1000 newly hatched silkworms than it is to feed 200-300 in a petri dish. When you order 1000 there are def 1000 silk eggs there (probably more) but a lot of them will die from being smashed by the food. Also you need to remember when you have silks that small you gotta keep them between 78-88 deg all the time. I don't even remove my silks from the petri dish for over a week after they hatch.... I make my food good an dense (really wet food is baaad), then I cut out really thin strips to put in the petri dish, put the lid back on and wait for a week.

So.... If you plan on using silks I would buy 2-3000 in bulk, let them know that you are buying them in bulk from Mulberry so you can refrigerate the eggs, and then only hatch out 2-300 at a time :)

Hope this helps,

Todd
