100 watts for winter days?

I have been thinking of uping up the wattage in my bulbs for winter. Since the room temperature can go down even drastically during winter (cant afford to keep it on all the time) Is it alright if I do so? I plan on keeping away from the cage itself around 12 inches mount from the top of the cage.

Will a 100 watt light bulb harm the eyes of my cham?

Actually honestly I've been using it for a few days now he seems fine. Is it safe to continue?

Is there a better way for source of heat during winter lighting wise?

I have a young adult veiled and yeah the temp goes down to 65 till my heater kicks in brings it back to 75 and keeps it there. I generally like the cold thats why my settings are such.

A low temp of 65 is fine at night. During the day, before you switch the bulb, check your basking temps while the current bulb has been on for a while. Is the temp at the basking perch much different than it has been during warmer weather? It may take a little longer in the mornings to warm up to the right temp, but your cham may just bask a little longer. Problem with a higher watt bulb is thermal burns.

We keep our heat set between 65-68 degrees. Our rental is not energy efficient at all, so we can't afford to keep the place heated to a comfortable temperature for us. :( I run a 100 watt bulb all year long, but my bulb is in a dimmer lamp, so I can adjust it up and down throughout the year.

Same here my apartment is not energy efficient at all either. Heating wise I have to depend on pants and long sleeves covered in jacket through the winter months. Ill probably use the 100 watt lamp and observe the temperature during the coldest time of the year.
