10 month old Nosy Faly with a weak grip

If you had to live on a dow rod with fake plants zip tied to it you wouldn't be very vibrant either. (another smart remark)

LOL!!! I agree. This thread is all over the place:eek:

Sandy, do you think they could get that grimey look from just being housed out doors? (This is a real question not a smart remark:)). My animals have only looked better after being housed outdoors for short or long periods. Even the WCs I have gotten. It seems the stress and importation process is what gives them the dirty look to me. Could this possibly be from being housed in poor conditions and or with one or more chams? He certainly looks vibrant in Todnedos pics.

Well, I don't know. Dogs that live outside are grimey. Vagrants, bless their hearts, are considered kinda grimey. I've been camping in the great outdoors and I know I got grimey. Even gardening makes me grimey. If I sat in a cage when I was in the great outdoors, I suppose I wouldn't get grimey. I suppose if I were a reptile I might get grimey if I lived in a greenhouse with all kinds of plants and dirt, etc. Birds don't look grimey because they preen. Cats preen. Dogs and reptiles don't preen.

When we've gotten WCs in that are shedding, the old skin always has a brownish cast to it.

And that's my little dissertation on grimey-ness. Now we have flung this thread quite far, haven't we?

Whether that is the same chameleon or not or if he needs a good power washing doesn't seem as important as getting him to a vet. Weak grip on a chameleon means he needs a checkup.

Huhhh????

He is CB sired by Fanogwa, but I have to say he has looked better.. here's a pic from last summer.

The pictures don't show up in the post on this thread....When I clicked quote it shows some links to an Ambanja album but the pictures don't show for me.

I bought Fanagwa in June of 2008. I just looked his record up. Has anyone verified with Pam that it's Fanagwa's offspring? Cool if it is. Fanagwa is still a stud. I've been breeding him quite a bit with offspring from another one of my Nosy Faly's, Monet. Fanagwa was in last year's forum calendar thanks to Royden :)

I'd take that boy too. He'd be worth the vet bills. He's going to brighten up a lot when he gets healthy :)

Same Cham...

Yeah, that's the same cham and he does look a whole lot better. Did you own him and take the pictures? Trying to figure the time line of ownership of this male. He's a lot older than 10 months now if he looked like that last summer! What a little drama.....I haven't talked to Pam in 2010 yet so I think I'll give her a ring tomorrow :)

I bought him from Pam kept him for 5 months then sold him.

Thanks......

Thanks for the info.....Hope this boy ends up with someone who will get him to the vet for fecals and an overall health check. He deserves that. I certainly hope he is not returned to the person/people who caused him to spiral into an unhealthy condition. I've bought a few things from some people in my early years who did not stand by their ad or guarantee. I never let the chameleon continue to suffer from that situation though. I've always figured it's a risk of this hobby and one that you do have to plan financially for if you are going to aquire a number of chameleons.

ouuuch duuudee.... he has two big live umbrella plants in there with him as well as biovines....if you want i could post a picture of the whole enclosure, although i think most of you know how i keep my chams by now...

its because of me, that i need to return him.

the plan was to return this guy, and get a guaranteed healthy Faly from Vinny... then all of a sudden the refund i planned on getting was b/s'd harcore... and then i got stuck with a Faly that needs help...

now that i can return him im back out of debt with 500 bucks. this money isnt mine to waste, thats the main problem...

wish i had a better job, i would totally give this guy the attention he deserves...

the lesson learned is to only buy from people you know personally. i have always dealt with Vince and he has never let me down once. there are plenty of others out there that i know who would do the same. any person who has participated on this thread is on that list! :)

wowww Todnedo, now that i think back to that Faly group you had for sale... i believe this was the very animal i was truely debating on getting...

Yep thats him, you could have bought him from me, when he was healthy for $200.00 LESS back in september.

So do me a favor, go out in your garage and get a hammer, now wack yourself in the head for missing out on a good deal:D

This is where I was trying to get at with my last post:eek: However, it was a little off topic. My chams are housed outside as long as weather permits. Day and night. None of them get a dirty look to them and none play in the dirt. in fact they get much more vibrant and seem more happy when outside. When they are exported they are housed in cages with multiple other chams and most of the time with out many obstacles to climb on, drink from, and just down right dirty conditions. Most wild chameleons I have seen in photos and videos are super vibrant and do not have that dirty look to them. Being stuck in nasty conditions and being stressed by many other chams is what I would think the dirtyness comes from. So I would suspect, along with its poor diet, it was housed in less than satisfactory conditions whatever that may be. Multiple chams, dirty conditions, etc. One can only speculate but obviously something was not right. Sorry if this is too off topic but I thought part of the thread was also trying to figure out how he would get this way.
