10 fertile eggs!

Just went to check on my female Viridis Chameleon - she has been gravid for a while now, ever since I got her about two weeks ago. She was extremely large and waddling around her set up digging around, after about a week and a half, I started to put little holes in her setup for her and placed her in the quiet area of my room. She finally chose a hole and laid ten perfect little eggs. Hopefully within the next 100 days or so I will have some little pygmy chameleons running around. Well, more of them I should say!

I did end up keeping Darwin - my first Chameleon. These Pygmy Chameleons were a gift from a friend.

That's what I was thinking too! I was guessing, maybe 4 eggs would be in her set up. Any tips would be great as far as incubation, and raising the hatchlings! The countdown to hatch date is on!

Update

Here is a quick update on the eggs, and Pygmy Chameleons.

R. viridis - I received 10 eggs from my female which was WC. 4 of the 10 went bad and molded, but I still have 6 fertile growing eggs. Each are starting to show small little chameleons in the eggs, and are filled with stretch marks. About a week and a half after the eggs were laid, I did discover her body among the foliage of the cage. I'm not sure what caused her demise. I do know another person who did have this species that did end up losing their female and male viridis that was in the process of trying to lay eggs. I would say I got lucky for that aspect. I did never end up receiving the male viridis from the seller, we did get the refund of $50, so if there are any at the Atlanta Repticon this month, my friend will be picking me one up. I will update again once they hatch.

R. brevicaudatus - I had four of them, but I did discover two of them deceased on the bottom of the cage. I figured it was from mites, but I was wrong. There were none to be found while cleaning and I have treated accordingly afterwards in the event I found more. However, I wasn't discouraged. I still have two, an old man Pygmy and a possible gravid female. I did receive 9 fertile eggs that are showing veins through each of the eggs after a brief candling. I will update once again when they hatch!

Update 11/29/2013 -

R. viridis - 6 of the 10 eggs are still growing. With each candling the babies are filling the eggs. I am currently on day 65 ending with a brief candling of the eggs. There is no sweating but I do expect them to start sweating within the next two to three weeks. I will post more as they hatch!

Can't wait to see pics! I've never seen pics of baby virdis and if you hatch them, you will have to be posting all the time The little buggers will be small as mine is 5 months and he isn't even half the size of my index finger!

I will be posting loads of pictures when they hatch out! I have 9 R. brevicaudatus eggs incubating as well, but they are about a month behind. I candled a few of them tonight as well and they are all developing nicely and staying nice and calcified. Little legs keep kicking in all 15 eggs I have incubating right now. I know there is an old thread of someone in Beligium on here that hatched out some R. viridis. I keep going back and reading it for more information.

It's sad that there isn't any more information on them.
