1 week into having a veild chameleon.

I'l have to buy the stuff tomorrow mprning. I've seen a lot of threads on setting up a lay bin, I'll look it up. But no i havent weighed her and i don' see any bumps on her stomach.

She doesn't have her grown up colors yet and she's not that big so she can't be eggbound.
She should be eating a dozen appropriate sized crickets day at that she. What size are the crickets?
Her poop does say she's dehydrated. To get them to drink takes a long time so dripping a few drips on the end of her nose won't do it....it takes a lot of drips.

If you ever catch her when she is calm, you might want to feel her for lumps. I have a female chameleon who I think is getting ready to lay, but I can't be sure. I put a lay bin in so I will know when she is ready. I even have a larger bin to move her into since I can only put so big of a lay bin in my cage. I do not want to give false info so, I just say be prepared for the vet.

Okay if it' not eggbound what would you suggest ? It' just wierd she been very lethargic stays in one spot doesn't eat but now she' roaming hanging upside down (which she never goes on top) and she circling right now. I'm Just worried. Not sure what I should do

What size are the crickets you're trying to feed her...the size of the space between her eyes? Bigger? Smaller?

What do you feed the crickets?

They are small crickets. Deffienntly smaller than the space between her eyes.

Just keep the size proportional to the width between her eyes. She shouldn't be at risk as long as you stay within that size. Just work up to that size of you are worried

Okay another question i want to get a Lay bin ready so when she does have eggs. What do you suggest? Playsand and Topsoil? Half and half ?

You could do either, both, mixed, just make sure it is slightly damp so that the chameleon can easily make tunnels that will not cave in. Test this with your hand. It doesn't matter so long as the substrate is natural, chemical/fertilizer/pesticide free, and damp enough to withstand an air pocket

For over 20 years now i have always used washed playsand....just moist enough to hold a tunnel. The best sand is produced by Kings and comes in a white bag with red, yellow and blue sand toys pictured in the front. It never causes eye infection or impactions if the chameleon ingests it.

I recommend using an opaque container at !east 13" deep x 12" x 8" filled almost full with the sand.
