    chameleon stimulation?

I know chameleons are said to be solitary animals, but that is most often said in reference to its own species. I have a tough time thinking of any animal that is a truly solitary creature. I am not saying that together the two animals will continually interact, but they will form some sort of...

    chameleon stimulation?

Has anyone ever experimented with ways to stimulate their chameleon? I have noticed that mine has begun to pace in its cage much like you would see large animals do in the zoo. I have started opening the cage door and letting my chameleon explore on its own, leaving and returning as it pleases...

    New Cage Plans! Please Comment.

I can't say much as to the design since it all depends on how you put it all together. I can say that my cage is 36"x24"x48" and my cham has been in it since I got it at approximately 5 weeks old. Two months later (~4" nose to vent) he seems to be doing fine. I don't free range the feeders...

    Blatta Lateralis

The sterilite drawers are a little slicker than what I am using, but the fact that they can climb vaseline made me think twice about how secure they are. You may be safe with those drawers, but it might be worth a little extra caution.

    Blatta Lateralis

I ordered 2000 (1/2-5/8") from them about 2 weeks ago and I second your comments regarding the seller. The roaches themselves are a bit of a pain though. Despite the fact that they are "non-climbing," they do a good job of climbing the sides of the tote I keep them in. (not quite vertical, but...

    pictures of symptoms of dehydration

I hear about all the symptoms of dehydrated chameleons, but I'm just not sure what exactly sunken eyes look like. Does anyone have pics of a dehydrated chameleon or know where to find them? I don't think mine is dehydrated, but I've only seen him drink once and he is eating quite a few...

    Fish for food?

You should probably watch what kind of fish you get. Feeders like rosy reds and common goldfish are probably not the best idea since a lot of fish keepers won't use them to feed their predatory fish (myself included). They are really inbred, parasite ridden, and have very poor nutritional...

    how old is this guy?

I have been hand feeding him so far toda. (2 small roaches and I think 4 small crickets) So the biggest challenge as far as food goes is me finding him. Other than that, my biggest concern is him trying to climb the concrete on the back wall and falling off. As far as ordering an age, I...

    how old is this guy?

I was hoping for something at least double the size, maybe big enough to eat adult crickets, but o'well. I'll make do.

    how old is this guy?

My veiled finally came in today, but it is a bit smaller than I expected. Does anyone have any idea how old he might be. Its not the best pic but you should be able to get the idea. Since he is younger than I expected is there advice you can give me?

My Mister/draining system (lots of pics)

What kind of aquarium pump are you using? I tried this same idea a couple weeks ago but could only get enough pressure to have the nozzle 6 inches above the water jug.

    cage and humidity questions

I don't have much for drainage other than the floor pieces sloping toward the planters. As it is now, most of the water slpashes and spreads out on the concrete enough that it evaprates and the rest is directed to the plants. So far, I haven't seen much more than about 2ml below my false floor...

    cage and humidity questions

Honeysuckle is not at all sticky. Milkweed vines a lot of times get tangled with and mistaken for honeysuckle and those are quite sticky. Also www.bluebeastreptile.com lists it as safe and I have not seen it listed as toxic or even not recommended in any other lists.

    cage and humidity questions

I am planning on getting a honeysuckle vine as my main plant and that will fill in a lot better than the philodendron, but those aren't available locally until sometime in April. Also, here are a couple better pics of the back and floor.

    cage and humidity questions

I do not have a drip system. An example: it has been 45 min since the last misting and there are still multiple drops on many of the leaves and it is only at 35%.

    cage and humidity questions

I just got done building my cage and trying to figure out the temps and humidity before I get the chameleon (veiled). The cage is 4' tall with a 2'x3' footprint. The basking spot at the top right is 95°. At about 18” from the top it is usually between 78°- 80° and at the midpoint it is...
