Sally13,
Hopefully that hydration and/or perhaps a foreign body in the eye (as Brad suggested...spraying/misting liberally with warm/lukewarm water and increases the humidity will hopefully fix it) is the explanation for this...are there any activity changes or problems with the other eye...
All I can say is wow!...the entries so far are amazing...I think this will be one of the most competitive contests so far (not to take anything away from any of the previous contests)...many different species represented already...
Drake: it can't hurt to enter the contest...lol...but I can...
Wow,
Contest results back so soon...congratulations to LunaC and QuadziMoto! Great pose...I love the expression...
So many interesting pictures...glad I was not a judge...
Anyway...thanks Brad for having these contests...it is always fun to participate and view everyone's pics/chams...
Lckyclvr4213,
I think humidity levels around 60-70 is considered ideal...in my opinion it is more important to actually observe that your cham is drinking either from your drip system or during/after sprays...sometimes it requires quite a bit of spraying before he may actually start to...
What is the wattage of your daytime spotlight? I would imagine the temperature beneath your spotlight (depends on how far from cage/basking spot) is higher than 73-77....be careful though as you have a very young cham that it does not get too warm (I have read that the ideal basking temperatures...
Tarzansma,
Hi...I do not wish to contradict anything Lele said (I respect everything she says)...but your 8.5 month old veiled should be nearing full adult size...and should be able to take down a full-sized superworm with no problems. Although the length of the worm of the worm may be a lot...
zero742,
You bring up an interesting question concerning the nutritional value of superworms vs. the other typical feeders...I have browsed over some of the charts like the one Brad mentioned...I always wonder about the scientific accuracy of some of those tables/charts and what diets these...
Yes...so many good-looking pics for the contest!...I also notice that there are many users who have some great pics in their personal gallery but never participate in the contests...seems like a saw a nice-looking Mellers in someone's photo gallery here...
Jamie: Oh okay it has some Sambava...
Sorry I did not realize the contest had closed...I don't have internet at my home and saw that the contest was still open (< 10 pics meeting the
requirements) last evening before I left my university computer lab. I brought my disc with pictures to the lab this am...but changed my mind about...
Hi herpluv,
I recently purchased a pair of ambilobes in September and like you spent a lot of time going through hundreds of ads and sites. It is difficult to directly answer your question about buying from a cheap site vs. overpriced breeder...but in general I would tend to avoid those...
t. white,
Hi...I am no expert on this subject, but have had a couple scares with a couple of transient episodes of hemipenal prolapses with my male panther. Luckily, the problem spontaneously corrected itself but I was in near panic. Anyway, the second episode lasted a little over 2 hours and...
Brad,
Your categories sound good. I need to ponder about it some more but additional cateogories could be related to background/setting/scenery (may just include this in photo quality...or not at all lol) and cham "pose" (to give some consideration to that average looking cham caught in an...
Brad,
Thanks for linking to this ad...pretty tempting (not sure if I have the patience for silkies right now lol). My only experience with silkworms has been with Mulberry Farms. I don't know if it is common with all their orders but I remember I ordered 250 worms + some eggs from them last...
Hi Heika,
That is a great new chameleon you have...how old is he now? I don't know much about the chameleon breeder scene...but I have heard of Tracey Spencer before and she has a good reputation...should turn out to be a beautiful adult
Hi Mr. Green
Thanks for your comment...I am still amazed myself as my veiled is just an average sized female of about 14"...although I hope she does not accidently come across any large prey items like that again (saw a recent picture of a Burmese python I think that had not faired so well...
Chamgirl,
I fell for it again lol...I saw what I thought for sure was a close-up of a Parsons on the "Chameleons of Madagascar" video and then they called it a Globifer. I wonder how genetically similar they are...It looks like Roberta is in great hands with you...
