    Elly's New Free Range

Your setup is too high off the ground for my liking. Consider keeping the chameleon elevated no more than 3 feet till they get to be about 6-7 months. They are good "fallers" when they get older.

    lake tahoe cham

If you house stays above 65 degrees, I wouldn't worry the night lamp. It is recommended that you have a drop of 10 degrees plus in temperature at night. Some people will recommend not to use a night lamp no matter if it is blue or red. However, If your cham isn't opening his eyes while it is...

    Recipe for Hornworm chow?

The problem with raising hornworms is that they ONLY eat plants that, when consumed, make them POISONOUS to our animals...this includes tomato and tobacco plants. So you have to feed them chow.

    Recipe for Hornworm chow?

The title says it all. Does anyone have a recipe for hornworm chow they would like to share? As we all know hornworms are one of the most expensive feeders that you can buy and their food is also pricey for feeder food. It would be awesome for chameleon owners on this forum and very benefical...

    reverse osmosis water for chameleons

I too am considering getting an RO system. Not because my tap water is that bad, because I live in Arkansas, but because I was told by Marty of Mistking it will increase the longitivity of my misting system. I have used regular tap water with my chameleons, leopard geckos, and anoles for...

My Selfmade Enclosure and Panther chameleon (Tito) that i finnaly got today!

The same reason why male chameleons are pink or red...to ward off anything from messing with them. It is a defense mechanism. The bright reds are what a chameleon recognizes as another very angry male chameleon or another animal that posses a threat. In case you didn't know male and female...

    Cup feeding

Some chameleons just won't eat out of a cup...but don't give up. The more the insect moves or flys the more a chameleon wants to eat it. You can condition your chameleon to recognize the cup as a food bowl. Use an opaque cup that it can easily spot from it's favorite perch. Crickets do tend to...

My Selfmade Enclosure and Panther chameleon (Tito) that i finnaly got today!

The reason i think it is a girl is because generally the lighter orange babies are female and the darker black/dark brown young ones are male. It is difficult to sex young panthers though so it could possibly be a male. There are cases of males being that color at that age. Bright red is the...

My Selfmade Enclosure and Panther chameleon (Tito) that i finnaly got today!

Looks to me like a little girl :) I've heard bad things about having the color red visible to your chameleon. Are you sure that the varnish coat or paint on the inside of your cage is nontoxic?

Outdoor setups in Texas? (100 degree weather)

If it is hotter than 85 i wouldn't recommend keeping your cham outdoors, especially panthers. You have to take into account that is 100 degrees ambient temp..in direct sun they are cooking.
