After vigorous shopping and cleaning and remodeling, and with more to come, I spent the weekend creating a new home for my chameleon son Harold. His cage before was so sad. I killed all the plants and he was living in a deserted house. BUT with the help of this forum and the links everyone had...
Awesome. I changed the mister timer to one hour (for now until I get a better misting system), and after it was done I just saw my cham shoot at the glass for water. At least he's seeing it now and hopefully will do even better when he has a whole jungle.
Thanks for the info, I am trying to get him a whole jungle set up for him, but this shit ain't cheap. I'm trying to get at least $300 to redo his entire cage with new plants and branches. Takes time when you're a full time student and work full time !
Thank you everyone for your input, below I have filled out the chameleon info that was given to me prior to this message:
Your Chameleon - Male veiled chameleon, 1.5 years (I think) and I have been caring for him for almost a year.
Handling - I recently haven't handled him much at all due to...
Man, now I feel like a bad parent. I love in Colorado and it'd been hard keeping his humidity up and plants alive :'( I don't wanna give him up to someone else but I also don't want him to die
Hey everyone, quick questions: I read something recently that talk about a pocket of fat under the chin meant something related to my chams health, and am coming here for clarification. Also, I noticed a hard black spot under his chin; I tried to kinda pick it off but it almost seemed like a...
Sorry everyone, I did not check this post until today! To respond to a few of you at once;
-I probably did startle him upon coming back into my room
- He was actually above my head quite a bit on the curtains, so I was not towering above him
- I do not allow my cat into the room, so there was...
Earlier today, as with every day, I took out my veiled to let him roam around the room and explore. No issues with the handling, came right out to me and went on his way. I went down to help my parents for about 30 minutes, and when I came back up to put him back in his cage, the instant he saw...
Yes a veiled, no fake plants in the cage, crickets and a small variety of fruits and veggies, and his fecal matter looked normal; except I seem to have found a small piece of blue fertilizer from the plant that is in his cage. Sometimes he goes down and eats the soil, which I am guessing isn't...
I noticed this morning that my chams poop had a little speck of blood in it. I will attach a picture of the part that contained it. It this something I need to be worried about?? He has never had this before!
Thanks and hope to hear responses soon!
