US Bioactive vivarium with all equipment

Sadly, we lost our nosy be and have decided against keeping another chameleon. I had a build thread here on this enclosure a couple years ago, I’ll post a link in the comments when I find it. I want to try to sell it all as a lot locally before breaking it up and selling any parts. Asking $400...

    Panther Chameleon type and gender?

My wife was sold an ambilobe that turned out to be a nosy be. We wouldn’t change it now, but it was a bit frustrating at the time believing that it was intentional.

    Cham safe plants

Are we talking about 1-2 isolated incidents, or is there actually something to this?? Shefflera was always great for our nosy be, but when I built the bioactive enclosure, the pothos thrived and just kinda took over, choking out most of the other plants. So that’s what he lives in now.

    I've just become a Chameleon step-dad

Thank you! No, it has worked out perfectly. There’s no way he could burn himself on the lights.

    I've just become a Chameleon step-dad

Since it's been a little over a year, I figured I'd post an update. This has been the single best thing we could have possibly done for Chemelon keeping. It's been super low maintenance and keeps his environment very consistently ideal. The pathos we planted kinda took over, making it...

Yes, I would highly recommend reading it all. Each post has a # in the top right corner. This is post #191. At the bottom left there are page numbers(should be 1-10, this being page 10 if you haven't changed settings) ,just click on page 1 and start there.

I know it's a long thread, but read through it all. There's good info here that helped me get mine built. Mine has been finished for a little under a year and it's the greatest thing we ever could have done for our chameleon and for us. We fill the water reservoir about once a month, we trim the...

    LED for plants... Convince me!!!

The one I have is for marine aquariums. Fluval sea 3.0. I just used that cause I already had it. I figure if it will grow corals and anemones, it will grow some plants. So far my setup is working out really well. 2 incandescent basking bulbs, one 36” uvb and one 36” led in an enclosure that’s...

It’s been a while, so without reading the thread again I recall @Brodybreaux25 used epoxy, not flex seal. Flex seal doesn’t cover very well. I don’t think 1 qt would even cover 1 full coat on an enclosure the size of his. If I were relying solely on flex seal, I would buy a gallon.

    Wireless Thermometer and Hygrometer.

My first one didn’t work. Amazon exchanged it and I’m loving it now. It’s a Game changer for us. Even if it’s not perfect, it’s still miles ahead of the alternative.

    How to go bioactive?

What kind of enclosure do you have? the biodude has some videos on basic bioactive setups for the traditional screen cages.

Only a few months. Still relevant.

i need help setting up my mistking timer, rct-24

Those instructions do not work for the RCT-24 which is the controller that came with the starter system I purchased.

i need help setting up my mistking timer, rct-24

The instructions for programming the controller are not in the instruction booklet. It just says to go to their website. The instructions for the rct-24 are absolute garbage. I’m currently combing the internet trying to find some help. It shouldn’t be this hard to run a simple timer.

My wall is about 60% covered with large pieces of cork bark and rounds that I got from biodude. I just used the foam to attach and fill in between. I like the look a lot better than all one or the other.

Well it’s good to know. As I have to replace peat moss I will give eco earth a try.

    Panthers at petco.

Agreed. I’ve heard people “rescuing” sick fish by purchasing them. Like they don’t realize they just prompted the order of two more to replace it since it “sold” instead of dying. They are notoriously bad at saltwater aquaria husbandry(petco that is, petsmart doesn’t do saltwater any more)but...

Right but I recall reading somewhere that coconut husk was particularly harmful. But then again, when you read enough, you end up with a lot of crazy opinions. I do think it was in regard to leaf litter though.

    Panthers at petco.

Hopefully the price point will deter some of the impulse buyers who take them home and then find out what they’ve gotten into. If they don’t sell, petco won’t continue to carry them.
