    I'm losing her, no recommendations?

I'm so sorry she didn't make it. You've been through a lot, take some time to grieve. DO NOT beat yourself up; a great reptile vet once told me that sometimes, even when we do EVERYTHING right, it just doesn't work out. Especially for females. Condolences.

    Too chunky?

This is Hobbes, my (approx) 9 month old male veiled. Is it just me, or is he looking a bit...chunky? He's weighing in at 99 grams, and he seems like he's ALWAYS hungry. He'll eat anything and everything I show him...he even tries to shoot my fingernails until he realizes they're not roaches...

    Black mark on lower lip

In case anyone was curious, it was actually a scab. A few days later, it fell off to reveal new, pink skin underneath. His next shed grew in a few scales, but he still has a bit of a bald spot.

    MistKing Starter?

Has anyone upgraded to a larger system and have a MistKing starter system they are willing to sell? I'd love to buy a MistKing for our upcoming vacation so my neighbor doesn't have to stop by three times a day while we're gone! I'd also love to not spend full price if possible. Let me know!

    Always wanting to come out

My veiled does the same thing. He LOVES coming out and going exploring. It's not safe to let him free-range in our house, but I am thinking I need some kind of set-up in our living room with a large ficus and some vines so he can get some "exercise" while supervised. He's super "friendly" for...

    Black mark on lower lip

In the picture where he's looking straight at the camera, you can see a brown mark just outside the black part. The brown mark appeared first, right after I brought him home, then the black mark showed up after.

    Black mark on lower lip

It's totally possible. He may have rubbed it on the metal screen of his box during the ride home from the expo where I got him and this is just part of the healing process and what it looks like almost 2 weeks later. I just want to be overly cautious!

    Sticky situation

This morning, when I was feeding Hobbes a hornworm, it clung to the branch! I thought you all might enjoy the video.

    How much is too much?

I know the advice is to let the vivarium dry out between mistings; does that mean to let the humidity levels drop, or just let the plants dry off so there isn't any noticeable wetness? I'm already concerned that the top of his viv isn't humid enough, especially since that's where he spends ALL...

    How much is too much?

Thank you for the article. The only thing I'm noticing is the occasional gaping, although tonight before bed, I noticed him sitting with his mouth open for about 30 seconds. I am going to try to schedule a vet appt ASAP.

    How much is too much?

According to my hygrometer/thermometer, his basking temp is averaging about 81* F and humidity at the top is between 50-60%. He spends all of his time at the top of the viv, the temp averages much lower at the bottom (68-70*) and much higher humidity (70-80%). The viv is full of live plants...

    How much is too much?

Thanks for the info! What about now, when he's only 8 months? How many large dubias should he be eating? Last night and this morning, he's been gaping/yawning a bit and puffing out his chin...could he have indigestion from too many bugs?!

    How much is too much?

We just adopted our 8 month old male veiled and he is doing really great settling in. He seems like he's hungry alllllllll the time, though. I've been feeding him med/lg dubias and he LOVES them, is a great hunter, and will take them from my hands or his vertical feeding cup without...

    Reflection in window

My new male veiled is settling in nicely, and eating and drinking like a champ. He keeps showing dark colors, and occasionally posturing as though reacting to a threat. He doesn't react like that to any of us, and he turns bright green when he is let out to explore. I am wondering if he is...

    Handsome Hobbes

Ha, no. This is at the reptile expo where we adopted him.

    Reptile Expo

There will be a reptile expo this weekend near my house, and I'm excited to attend. I've never been to a reptile expo before, and I'm curious if the event will be a good opportunity to purchase some of the things I need to complete my vivarium and preparation, or if I should purchase my items...
