I have been looking around, and heard a few recommendations, for where a good place to purchase a panther chameleon would be. I just am wondering where you guys got yours and your experience with them? I am not ordering my chameleon until late this year as i'm still getting some funds and...

Comment by 'GoneForLunch' in 'Building Trust With Your Chameleon'

I posted a thread looking for how to build trust and handle a chameleon as I’m looking to purchase one later this year, and someone was kind enough to send me to this thread. This was awesome to read and gives a lot of good tips. Thank you for writing this! You have a pretty chameleon on your hands.

    Handling a Panther Cham

I have a bearded dragon and a leopard gecko already who both love to be out of the cage and handled. Both fantastic lizards if that’s what you like to do. I don’t expect the same when getting a chameleon but I do hope to spend time with him and earn his trust enough to hold him occasionally. I...

    Handling a Panther Cham

That’s unfortunate to hear. I do want to be able to hold my chameleon but the last thing I would want is to make his cage less enticing for my own selfish gain. That’s why I ask how often you can realistically hold them without causing issues. They are magnificent animals but if I’m forced to...

    Handling a Panther Cham

I have been researching day and night to find out about these Ambilobe Panthers, and they are just stunning animals. What I’m reading on their handling seems to vary from place to place though. It’s my understanding that excessive handling can be stressful for the chameleon and so it’s...

    Best products for the cage

Thanks for advice! I may look into a multi bulb hood then to make it simpler with my plants light as well. I was thinking of putting an umbrella plant or a ficus in there but not sure which yet. Still need to do some research and shopping around on that part.

That is awesome news that I could skip a “baby” cage. I felt like maybe it was a bit of a waste but I’m willing to do whatever to make this guy happy and healthy. I am currently getting everything setup before I even look into buying one. I like to make sure my cage runs as it should for at...

I plan on getting a smaller cage for when he’s young, but eventually putting him in something like a ReptiBreeze XL (24x24x48). I also was intending on getting an incandescent basking light with an adjustable stand so I can get the temps right. Along with a Reptisun 5.0 UVB 24” bulb to go across...

    Best products for the cage

As far as water goes, drippers seem to be the most highly regarded. Rather than things like bowls or fountains due to bacteria. Are there any drippers that catch and recycle the water, or are most just filled every day or so?

    Best products for the cage

That’s what I’ve heard, which is what made me nervous about buying them. If I take branches from outside what is the best way to disinfect them? I’ve heard soaking them in soapy water or baking them can be effective?

I am very excited to be getting an Ambilobe Panther Chameleon. I own several reptiles but this has been a dream of mine for years now. I am having a bit of trouble nailing down exactly what to get for the cage though. I am looking for suggestions on a few things that I feel he will need. What...
