How many chameleons are on CF?

I have a female Veiled named Boop. 235.

Pet peeves in the reptile world?

I wouldn't call all chains of stores like Petco or Petsmart crappy. It honestly depends on the people they employ. I've worked at a great one. The second an animal was even remotely sick it was rushed to the vet and well cared for. We heavily monitored their health and we actually didn't give...

    Desensitizing Chameleons

I had the same thoughts - I want to be able to handle her so I can look her over, clean her cage more easily, and if she needs to go to a vet I don't want her freaking out. I started by offering her live prey from my hand the first week, she ate quite well. Then I started getting her on my...

    Desensitizing Chameleons

I guess it seems to be a mixed preference on the forums. Some handle, some don't. I guess I'll see how it goes. It's weird cause she's black spotted in the cage but when I take her out she's regular green. At the pet store she was regular green too.

    Desensitizing Chameleons

I can understand the object one. However for handling, for the last week Boop has been hand held and fed that way, she eats pretty well. I probably got lucky but it could also be that she was only fed dead crickets in the shop and now I'm feeding her live wriggly things in my hand. I'll...

    Greetings!

I'm going to attempt discouraging mine then. I've gone through the egg thing with my bird and my family enabling her sex drive. The complications look, for the most part, very similar. I prefer to avoid complications.

    Desensitizing Chameleons

Is this recommended or do you guys feel it's too stressful? What do I specifically mean by desensitizing...well, this can mean several things actually. Handling Holding the chameleon several times a day for short periods, done on a schedule. Usually rewarded with a treat. Food...

Black Spots on my Veiled Chameleon

I knew a lot of that but she doesn't seem particularly upset when she's on her screen. She just sorta changes when she's on her screen to black spots and green on her plants. Nothing will have changed other than she moved herself from one location to the other - sometimes the move in barely an...

    Greetings!

Out of curiosity since I don't see it *particularly* addressed...is it recommended to attempt to keep them from laying when they're not being bred? Or let them lay? Is one better for their health than the other? I know in various birds/reptiles letting them lay and go through it is considered...

    Boop's Enclosure

I actually did order more vines. The one I have was far smaller than I thought it'd be. So I'm just waiting on those to come in the mail...was like 50% cheaper online. @_@ I'm also waiting to find a way to hook the lights up. Boop like to hang under them and I'm afraid she'll cook herself in...

    Dubia roaches???

High fat in super and meal worms like McDonalds. Why are all creatures drawn to fats? ;p I read about how stubborn chameleons can be with super worms, wanting to eat nothing but. I really hate crickets, they always manage to get loose. I'm hoping to start up a Dubia roach colony again when...

    Greetings!

Here. So from googling the spur it does not seem like Boop has any. So I guess I have a little lady. :)

    Boop's Enclosure

So here is Boop's home. It makes a nice baby home. In a few months I'm definitely upgrading to something bigger and easier to customize than this. Any current suggestions? Edit: I wish Zoo med made the back of the cage glass instead of the front door. Would make misting and such immensely...

Bio Bubble Pet Chameleon Drinking Fountain

I need to get a power strip before I can use mine. My veiled is so tiny still, very young. She seems tolerant of most things. She's taken to letting me hold her while feeding her, I'm hoping this is a good sign that her personality is open. So the fountain may work for her.

Bio Bubble Pet Chameleon Drinking Fountain

Which question? How well does it work or the grate? From what it seems like if the filter is on the bottom it may flip over. This is why I'm confused by the instructions and the set up.

Black Spots on my Veiled Chameleon

Mine will get black spots when she's hanging on her screen. When she moves to her foilage or vine she turns green again. Was curious if she was just trying to blend in myself.

Exo Terra vs ZooMed Glass Terrarium

From what I studied there are a lot of obstacles to keeping any creature in a glass enclosure - you have to clean it more often to prevent mold which is really common in a closed humid enclosure. But I agree either can work, just do some heavy research on the glass enclosure before committing...

Bio Bubble Pet Chameleon Drinking Fountain

Typically I dislike most of Bio Bubble's stuff but the fountain actually seems like a great idea. I recently invested in one (I bought a dripper too, but I read how difficult the drippers can be). I need to get a power strip to actually use it, which I will do this weekend. I was wondering...

Will do. Females are always soooo complicated. ;p

    Greetings!

I googled what spurs looked like and handled Boop a little. I don't think Boop has spurs so I'm guessing she's a she! When she's more settled I'll get some pictures of her hind feet up to confirm. Currently she's enjoying the jungle I added to her cage.
