I'm not a reptile expert by any means but I have never heard of that. I even used my beardies water dish to collect dripping water for about a month until I got a better drainage system going... never had any problems.
But I suppose there could be some probs with that, hopefully some more...
I named my baby veiled Pope Sergius III... I just thought his casque looked like their traditional headgear... and he was a particularly nasty pope (rumor has it) and my little guy is quite a mean son of a gun.
Oh Boy... cutting another one open... that will be sure to fire up this debate again. :D
I hadn't kept up on this thread for a week or so but man, I want to congratulate everyone for being so darn polite/levelheaded. I have been a part of other forums where I mentioned that I had to...
Lookin good, I love all teh plants in there! My question is how do you avoid spraying the walls behind your cage? THat has been a big problem when I mist, is I get the walls and dresser that it sits on all wet...
Well I am running into some drainage issues, and a few other issues with my setup. I have tweaked many things such as dripping, misting, drainage, lighting etc, and am sure to tweak much more via trial and error. I certainly don't plan on my baby male veiled on being the only cham I get and am...
So when you buy the water crystals from the dubia website you are buying 16oz of dry crystals, so you will have the ability to make 16 gallons of water crystals?
If so, it's a heck of a lot better deal than buying the flukers gel water stuff from PetCo or where ever.
Of course there is...
I only think the thread should end if things get ugly, I salute everyone for not letting it get that way. Everyone has been able to voice their opinions on the matter without getting rude or nasty.
It's great to see what other people think and the reasons for them. It helps me understand...
We cut up all sorts of things for the sake of science... live animals are cut into to see their heart beats, thousands upon thousands of fetal pigs are killed to be dissected, and countless other animals. Many of the miraculous medical procedures we have today are thanks to experiments on...
What do you mean by mid to high? Not sure I understand the question. In what context where people telling you mid to high?
And the temperature and humidity for adults and juveniles depend on the species.... what species?
Thanks guys. Dino- Misting him directly was something that I had heard, and have tried. He runs away like I am spraying him with acid... even when I use warm water to spray him with. But I will keep trying that, maybe he just needs a longer misting session, or maybe mine is like Tyminator's...
Yes, his urates are pretty much all white. About how moist it is, I am not sure. I just cleaned out his cage yesterday, so I will check next time he poops. I just was getting worried because in the time I have had him I have never seen him drink, he must just be sneaky and do it while I'm not...
I hear a lot about Dubia, what are the benefits of feeding chameleons roaches as opposed to crickets???
Sorry I don't mean to hijack the thread.
And $200 bucks for roaches!!! They must be good...
I may be a bit paranoid, as some of you may know, but I have never seen my chameleon drink.
I mist 2-4 times daily, and have a dripper constantly running. My mistings only last a minute or two, however.
I read descriptions on what a dehydrated cham looks like but I have never seen one...
Very nice setup! You are quite the handy man...
I doubt I could do all that, I just made a ventilated cricket keeper out of a 22 gallon rubber tote and I could barely make that...:)
plus I am in a rental right now so these types of mods would be impossible, but I do like the shelving idea...
Ok, it's good to know that others have experienced the same ugly coloration...
Eric, how did you raise your cage up? Just looking for ideas... Mine is already on a dresser, I guess I could put something underneath it.
And do people agree with KEvin, should I raise the temp another 5-10...
