I owned a female veil once b4 and lost her. She became egg laden. The cost is less than keeping my Saltwater reef tank going. I really enjoyed my chameleon and would like to give another shot. Only this time a male, but hoping to understand what species are a little more docile
I am looking to purchase a new chameleon. I am new to this so could use as much input as possible.
1. Where do i buy? I live on Long Island in NY
2. I'd prefer a more docile and hardy species, definitely a male.
3. Any input greatly appreciated.
I am a newcomer.
Looking into starting again.
A few years back I had a female Veil, but she passed on me. I would like to try again.
But this time with a little better understanding.
I would like a friendlier if there is one species more docile?
Are there any reputable local breeders on...
It feels like such a long time ago! Hyde was going through all the gyrations of being pregnant, scratching, mulling around the bottom of her enclosure, everything. I was clueless, she was my 1st, had no idea and I was stressed out.
Joined this Forum, read up, asked questions, yadda, yadda...
My intent is to try the trash can idea tonight when I get home from work.
Im hoping all works out for her. It was so cool to watch her drink, a blessing. I am a whole lot stressed out now. Never mind her. lol
Hey Guys - major breakthrough this morning!
I actually saw Hyde drink water while misting. I have Vet appointment for her this Sat. morning, best I could do. Maybe she will surprise me and lay eggs before then.
I was ecstatic when she drank, and she drank with vigor. She actually came...
responses to questions
Yes I do have a dripper, plus I mist 3 to 4x daily. She was eating combination my plants , Hibiscus, Scleferra, Super worms & tons of crickets.
She slowed then to a complete ignore of the crickets, I think.
I say this because the crickets are all gone now, so I am...
Our girl still hasn't layed her eggs yet.
Here is my big question.
She has slightly sunken eyes. Sign of dehydration right.
She is at my pet shop's owner's house right now. We all can not understand this one thing. Every where else she looks as strong as a bull.
Any thoughts?

Every other month, WOW! Lots of work.
So I will ask the question, what is your set up like?
Where is your laying bin that she lays her eggs in? Is it inside her regular housing or outside? Do you place her in it, or does she travel to it on her own?
Would you mind PM'ing me with a...
Jannb,
Question for you. How often can the females produce eggs? When you set up your laying bin, can it be inside or outside their enclosure. Do you actually allow your Chameleons to just free travel around the house?
I guess this question could be answered by anyone.
Thanks all so...
JannB and anyone else who has faith in their experience.
My Vet is not in the office until Friday. I showed the people at my reptile shop some pictures of Hyde. She definitely has eggs. The three owners all concur to try and fertilze the eggs.
I trust my pet shop owners. I purchased Hyde...
Jannb,
I am setting up a sand laying bin today for her. I do not believe she has dropped the eggs as of yet.
She is eating, that I know of for sure, 1 -2 super worms per day(i still don't think she is touching crickets), at least one with calcium dust. Still not veracious like she was though...
if she has laid them , I can't locate them. and she does look like she lost weight. I have to set up my gram scale and weigh her. it's tricky though. She still a little funny about coming to me.
Im going to set up a bigger laiden bin for her with sand only . . . . . . . .
