Hyde - Unsure if she is egg laiden

I hope she lays for you today if not then I'm glad that you are taking her to the vets. Make sure they do an X-ray.

JannB and anyone else who has faith in their experience.

My Vet is not in the office until Friday. I showed the people at my reptile shop some pictures of Hyde. She definitely has eggs. The three owners all concur to try and fertilze the eggs.

I trust my pet shop owners. I purchased Hyde from them and they have helped me thoroughly to this point. They are suggesting that we try fetilizing the eggs and see if anything positive happens.

I am not sure, has anyone have any thoughts. I am open to all opinions , theories, fears, questions.

She is too far along in her cycle for the eggs to be fertile now. She would have had to be mated way before now. I find fertile eggs much harder for them to lay than infertile.

Thank you Jann, I kind of thought so. Sounded a little chancey to me too.

Jannb,

Question for you. How often can the females produce eggs? When you set up your laying bin, can it be inside or outside their enclosure. Do you actually allow your Chameleons to just free travel around the house?

I guess this question could be answered by anyone.

Thanks all so much for all of your input. Every bit always helps!

Not sure about veiled, but my panther lays every other month, the first week of the month whether or not she has been bred. Play sand is fine, most people use it. Lately, though, I have been mixing my sand about 50-50 with Eco-Earth. I feel like it is much easier for my female to dig because it's not as heavy. She gets done quicker and she is much less exhausted.

Every other month, WOW! Lots of work.
So I will ask the question, what is your set up like?
Where is your laying bin that she lays her eggs in? Is it inside her regular housing or outside? Do you place her in it, or does she travel to it on her own?

Would you mind PM'ing me with a picture or two.

Veileds can lay about every 3 months, but if you control their eating and heat often you can prevent them from laying at all. I have a link about this in my blog. It's The Raising Kitty The Female Veiled. You should always keep a laying bin in their enclosure and often they will lay there. I free range all my chams so I don't have enclosures. I often have to put them in the laying bin with no way out once I have determine they are ready to lay. I have noticed that the panther girls which are smaller than the veileds will often lay in a smaller laying bin.

Here's a video by Dez that you should find helpful.
