My little Georgie just passed last night but I Wanted to share a little funny moment provided by my lil Georgie! One thing about Georgie is that she would climb out of her home when the door was open and climb onto my hand, fully expecting a juicy bug. Twice when she had done this, she eyeballed...
Blowing bubbles
That sounds like the beginning of a respiratory infection (RI). I just went through a very traumatic week with my girl, who just passed on yesterday and she definitely had an RI at the end. My advice, get her to the vet ASAP and get some baytril (antibiotics). It is spendy but...
I feel your pain!
I can definitely identify, with both of you! I lost my Georgie after a week of constant showers, supplements, a vet visit that revealed she had an obstruction, laxatives, one dose of antibiotics and finally, her passing. I agree with keeping her warm, push the fluids and Get...
Quick little funny from Georgie
Just wanted to share a little funny moment provided by my lil Georgie! One thing about Georgie is that she would climb out of her home when the door was open and climb onto my hand, fully expecting a juicy bug. Twice when she had done this, she eyeballed my...
Thank you for all of your well wishes! I am such a softy and this whole incident has been emotionally draining. I don't think I cried this hard when I lost my finch Mr Bird after hatching him and he lived to the ripe old age of 11 years! I can't tell you how many babies he had with his 3 mates...
I definitely plan on trying again as I really enjoyed the time I had with Georgie. Was just a bit misinformed is the issue, in a nutshell. I am going to speak with the manager of the pet store I purchased Georgie from and advise them that they should not be recommending the substrate (coconut...
I never know that such a little girl could cause such a turmoil! After a little over a week of fretting, showering, laxative, supplementing, and pacing, Little Miss Georgie is at peace and no longer suffering. Thank you to all who offered advice and prayers!! I did not know what a great support...
0.1cc...
Little Georgie just passed away. I just went to check on her and she was all white, tonge sticking straight out of her mouth and after watching for about 15 minutes, not one breath...I feel so bad!! Now the "what if's" start. I know now if and when I decide to try this again, I will be...
Spoke with the vet. Got some Baytral (antibiotic). Got one dose in her and then she turned all white, started shaking her head like crazy, mouth wide open, tongue sticking out, body went rigid, she expelled some urate and went limp. She isn't moving at all other than to open her mouth to breathe...
I'm not starting to wonder if she might have a touch of a respiratory infection brewing from all the fluids and showers. She has been laying on the bottom of her enclosure with her mouth open for about 2 hours now and I think I detect a slight wheeze. I will talk to my vet tomorrow about maybe...
***update*** Georgie is still alive...we have been diligent in our quest to help her through this tough spell. When I arrived home from work, my fiancé had been home for a few hours and had let her soak in a warm bowl of water for about half hour and then in a light shower as well, per a convo...
Thank you! She's not doing much better. Day 2 of the laxative and she kept the fluids I gave her this morning down but my fiancé said when he tried this afternoon, she vomited again. No worms this time though, just the fluids. She's still really puffy too and still no poo... She's definitely not...
Completely cleaned & sanitized her indoor enclosure while I had her outside soaking up some much needed sun this evening. Got rid of the coconut husk and laid down newspaper instead. Which is the preferred type of plants for chams? Real or fake? And thank you, again to ALL who have offered...
Almost forgot :-)
No eggs, from the X-rays. Was told to keep her temp lower and that should help keep her from gorging herself when she does eat again. Vet said she probably just ate a few too many mealworms. I am so thankful they called me back today!
***also, she weighs a WHOPPING 66 grams!
Update... Took her to a very nice vet who said she is definitely constipated. Advised me on changing her diet to waxworms, silkworms and crickets and eliminate the mealworms as they are very hard to digest. She also gave me an all natural laxative I am to give her once a day til it is gone and...
