The guy i saw at Animal and Bird hospital is Peter Helmer i have his number also.
I believe he was tested b/c they did blood work and the MBD this vet says is under control- he says his bones are holding strong. if you like i could call Helmer and ask him any questions you have. right now his...
Word for word: Evaluation reveals Rafiki is small and underweight. Rafiki is anemic (low red blood cell count) and the white cell count us elevated. This is consistent with severe bacterial infection. Prognosis is guarded. the vet however said she does believe rafiki can make a turn around...
yeah everything.( cage light... anything i have) He is sick. and with my job and classes at the moment he can not get the care he deserves. The vet says he is anemic - i have been giving him his medicine but i cant stand seeing him like this. he deserves the attention he requres
this is a really hard decision i have had to realize. I think it is time that i have to look for alternative options. Does anyone know of a rescue or someone who is willing to rescue Rafiki. I am unable to give him the care and attention he needs at this time and i would rather he be in a better...

i am in Tampa.
Rafiki is home now- the vet said he is anemic and his blood cells are wacko- his red are to low and white to high. i am still waiting on the blood work results....he is on antibiotics for a few weeks....but i have to sit and really make a decision on what to do. i cant afford to...
he is a year and a half or so. got him summer of 07 when he was TINY.
i called the vet today they said he is doing well- they are waiting on the blood samples to come back tomorrow. so ill know if everything is ok by then. I took him to the animal and bird hospital in my area.
So if anyone remembers Rafiki...He is my little guy with MBD. I rushed him to the vet this morning b/c i found him lying in his plant- still holding on but only by his tail. they said his MBD is ok- his bones are strong. He is staying over night for blood work and so on.... my question (concern)...
he is able to get right to the top- the UVB light rests right on top- only the screen of the cage between.
i have a lot of light (this sound funny) but he sleeps very easy if he starts walking and goes under a leaf- its like the min there is no light he feels its time to nap :p so i put them...
the shots where for the MBD i cant remember exactly the details it was a while ago- the dust i have is phos. free D3- i dust crickets every time- the worms (wax and meal) not- i only feed him those while i wait for the others to arrive. and yes i will defiantly get him to a vet- i love him to...
when he got out the ER (:p) I had to give him shots in his front legs, liq calcium by mouth and had feed him. i had to do that for a month- i have not taken him to a vet to check up- but i cant find one- i cant take him back to the emergency one- its $80 to walk in the door
