Just got back from the vet. He said reptile abscesses are hard and not liquid so we did not attempt to open a new wound. Instead he prescribed Tribrissen syrup for the next two weeks and to keep him clean (I spray down his cage with a hose everyday and my mistking is set for 4x mistings a day)...
Thanks for the response. I have decided it would be in his best interest to take him to a vet. I found a local pet hospital that has worked with chameleons before. I setup an appointment for tomorrow afternoon, after I am off work. I will let you know how it goes.
Hi everybody,
Today I noticed an abscess on my 6 month old panther. It is on his back left foot, the inner part, where his claw should be. The nail is missing and it is a bit swollen (a few millimeters) and filled with pus. I think he lost it from climbing on his screen cage. It does not seem...
Nevermind, LLL reptile and livingston lizard lounge are two different suppliers. LLL reptile was the company that took up most of the floor space in the center. In that case they should be able to tell you exactly what he is
Their website says ambilobe so I wouldn't doubt it
did you get him from the LLL booth? They get their panthers from several breeders all over the place so it would be hard to say exactly what locale he is.
Yeah, I woke up to such horrible news and made a thread in general discussion, wrong forum.
Going to be hard to enjoy the movie tonight with this overshadowing the release :(
None of the site sponsors work with ankaramy. Trust me, I have called every single on of them :) I was really interested in getting one before I got my faly.
Even the nonsponsored chameleon websites that claim they work with them do not. I called them too :)
That's awesome that you have some...
I would like to send my thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families and friends of last night's shooting.
I cannot fathom nor comprehend why anybody would do this but it makes me very sad :(
This is my setup after I took the hibiscus out. I took this pic about a month ago, he is a lot bigger now and I added a ficus tree. It is less "bushy" than a hibiscus
To be honest I have no idea about the life of a UVB bulb. I would say change it every 6-8 months? I've only had my setup for two months now. That is just a guess, I'm sure someone will chime in about this.
Nothing beats natural sunlight. I have my setup next to a window as well. When it is time...
You will mixed answers regarding wild insects. If you are sure they have not been exposed to pesticides, I suppose you can take that chance. Personally, I would not just because they can be carrying parasites and it just wouldn't be worth it if your cham got sick. Better safe than sorry.
The...
Hi Jessi, and welcome to the forums!
The problem with a large mesh enclosure is that it will be hard for your baby chameleon to hunt for food. Especially with pinhead/small crickets, they will usually just hide along the edges. If you used a feeding cup instead of free ranging the food, this...
I know, Eliza :)
My comment was more directed towards reptilelover and the people that tend to attack "big box" pet store employees for their lack of knowledge
Most of them are just teenagers or people trying to make ends meet. I would hope that most of them have an affinity for animals, but...
It looks to be about 3 months old. My panther was the same size compared to my finger at that age, even though they are different species..
Post a clear picture of the back of it's feet and we can help you sex it
It takes a new cham about a week to acclimate to their new home, so don't worry too much if she doesn't eat a lot. It is good that she is drinking.
How big is your cage? If it is really big then you might want to keep the crickets in a feeder cup so she has an easier time finding them. A really...
