I am so sorry to here about your panthers. I too have had crickets half dead, doing the kicking thing. I immediately remove them from the tote when they start behaving this way. If I have too many acting this way I will throw away all of them and order a new batch. And I agree with your practice...
Thanks, Jann. I had considered an autopsy but ended up deciding against it. I truly do not think anyone around here is experienced enough to tackle the task.
Laurie, that is insane! I am so sorry. You know this story makes me feel that this is probably what happened to my Chloe. I must admit I did not have a strange feeling like you did though. I was wondering perhaps if when this happens to Chams they may be suffering heart attacks or aneurysms?
Wow, thank all of you so much for your kind words and input. That means so much to me. I didn't even know I had this many responses till I logged on just now. I still have my male Nosy Be and he is nearly 3 years old as well. Now I am scared to death that I might walk in and he too will be gone...
Yeah all, it's been a long while since I have been on here, and I am sad to say I have returned with a heavy heart. I apologize if this should be in the health clinic threads, but I came home from work today to discover my Nosy Be female lying dead on the bottom of her cage. I was devastated and...
Thanks for the input. I am definitely going to try and feed her even less. She seriously would eat all day if I would let her. Every time I open the cage she will **** her head and start to stick her tongue out thinking I have something for her. LOL!
Her ambient temps are around 72 degrees. I...
Thanks so much for the input. I'm going to try every other day and if that does nothing then I just will let her do what she wants. I guess I can't stop nature. I was thinking about letting my male mate with her to see if the cycle would break. Any thoughts on that?
That's what I was afraid of! I keep a detailed log of all my Chams feeding and behavior and health habits - These are the days she laid this year=
First Clutch - July 20th
Second Clutch - September 10th
Third Clutch - October 30th
Fourth Clutch - December 9th ( today )
So in doing that...
Yeah, a ton of eggs! LOL! I talked to few others who keep Chams saying they had never heard of such a thing.
Feeding her 4-5 medium crickets every other day and sometimes a super for a treat, and bask temp is at 81-83
Okay, I have been keeping Chams for about 2 years now and I definitely do not consider myself a veteran on breeding / clutch laying etc. But is normal for a female Panther to lay 4 clutches of eggs in a 6 months period?! My 2 year old Nosy Be has done just that, again I don't know if that out of...
Yeah I have been told it's typically food boredom. I'll go and grab some super-worms today and see if that entices him. Anything else I will have to order unfortunately. My female has the opposite problem right now, she is a pig! Everytime I open her cage door she starts sticking her tongue out...
My male Nosy Be Panther is about 1 year and 10 months old. He was eating every other day about 4 crickets, but over the past month he has slowly tapered down on his feeding. I haven't been able to get him to eat a cricket in probably 2 weeks, but he has been taking butterworms now and again. He...
Thanks! Yeah I may have made the mistake of overfeeding her after her first clutch. This is probably why she went right into another one unfortunately.
Hey Jannb, I actually did not mate her at all. So you think this might be some sort of "retainer clutch" she built back up after her initial clutch? I can tell you this, she ate like an absolute pig after her first clutch right up until yesterday.
Hi all, it's been awhile since I have been on here. My female Nosy Be Panther is coming up on 2 years old and she laid her first clutch of 38 eggs about 6 weeks ago. Though I was freaked out she did awesome. For the next week her black, gravid colors waned and she turned back to normal...
