    Swollen back

Just noticed this this morning and don't know what it is. He was outside for about a half an hour yesterday. The only thing I can think of is maybe he got stung?

    Preventing temporal gland infections?

Does anyone know if there is anything that can be done to prevent temporal gland infections in jackson's? I've had to take my guy to the vet three or four times in the past two years for temporal gland infections. I hate putting him through all that, not to mention stressing him with his meds...

    Floor for DIY cage

I think I'm going to go with plywood and get a small piece of laminate flooring for the top of it to protect it from the water. I can always just change it later on if I need a drainage system.

    Floor for DIY cage

i am planning on building a DIY enclosure thats going to be 2'x2'x4' and I can't think of what to use for the floor of it. Any suggestions? I'm still undecided on whether I'm going to incorporate a drainage system.

    How big?

I never thought of a sheet. That would make it all a whole heck of a lot easier. Or I guess a beach towel will work too. I've also nixed the bottom door thing, its going to be too difficult to make it.

    How big?

I think I have it figured out. Its probably going to be about 4-5ft wide about 2ft deep, and about 4ft tall wood frame, plexiglass down the middle, one door for each side and a bottom door along the whole length. I just want to make something where the plexiglass is removable in case I get a...

    How big?

I was originally thinking with a divider, I just couldn't figure out how to keep it supported. I've been trying to figure out the logistics with all the different options.

    How big?

I am considering doing diy enclosures for my male and female Jackson's, but if possible I would like to build just one large enclosure. How big would one have to be to house a male and female Jackson's together?

    Bob is finally recovering

Bob just had his re-check at the vet this morning. He had had a temporal gland infection that was getting pretty nasty, so at his first visit, he had surgery to remove some pus and was started on antibiotics. I took him in for his 10-day re-check this morning, and the vet said he was looking...

    Any tips for recovering chameleon

Poor Bob has had a temporal gland infection for a few months. At his first vet visit, we were given some blue medicine to swab on it, which worked last time. So this time that didn't work and he was starting to look pretty bad, so he had another vet visit yesterday. They said that they had to...

keeping my cat away from cham cage

I used to have the same kind of problem. When my cat would get too interested and start swatting at the cage, I would pick him up by the scruff of his neck, use my "angry" voice, and shut him in the basement for a while. Physical violence and squirt bottles have never worked with either of my...

    R.I.P. Eponine

Eponine, my little female Jackson's died this morning. She pretty well stayed in the same spot all yesterday. She was in the same spot this morning, but with a leg hanging off the branch. I thought she was impacted so I gave her a warm shower and a little later took her outside. She kept...

How did you come up with a name for your CHAM?

My husband got to name our first Jackson's and decided to be creative and name him Bob. I named our little female Jackson's Eponine pretty much because it was right after Les Mis came out and she is our only female pet.

Cats waging war on the crickets

Does anyone else have problems with cats obsessing over your chameleon's food. My two cats don't care at all about my chameleons ( I guess they don't move fast enough for the cats to even register that they are there) and have never bothered them, but they have it in for any insects I feed the...

    Very swollen eye

Her eye is doing a lot better today. The swelling is down enough that she can actually move her eye around again. I rinsed it with some saline solution last night. I don't know if that helped, or if its just getting better on its own.

    Very swollen eye

so... the swelling is down a little today. Her eye is only about twice the size as normal and she can open it. She seems to be behaving normally, so it looks like she's going to be ok. I just hope she's not going to be blind in that eye now.
