Is this setup good for an Ambilobe Panther Cham?

Your problems with humidity are likely due to the type of enclosure you're using. There is a level of ventilation in the Exo Terra type enclosures (I have a crested gecko in one) but not nearly what you would get from an all screen enclosure. A screen cage is probably your best bet for getting...

    Dry food for chameleons.

I'm pretty sure most of the items listed in that article would make a good gut load for the insects you feed a chameleon. What your feeders eat benefits the cham. I've heard of a veiled munching on a leaf or a flower but that's about it. Maybe someone with a little more experience could help here.

    Hey Fishermen and Women

Wow! Great pics! Fishing is by far my favorite hobby. I fish for trout and bass in the spring and summer, salmon and steelhead from late summer and all winter. Here's a few pics of some of my catches and my smoker all fired up full of Pink Salmon fillets

    My 2 new babies =)

How big are the crickets you are feeding your chams?? They should be no more that 1/4 inch for a cham that size. A varied diet is pretty important to these guys as I'm sure you have learned in your research. I'm not trying to sound rude, but if you are unable to purchase insects locally or...

    Favourite band?

For me its Nine Inch Nails and TOOL. Just saw Puscifer for the second time a couple weeks ago, Maynard kicked off the new tour here in Seattle. To sum it up I have to say that anything Trent Reznor or Maynard James Keenan does is going to be pretty amazing. I hope to hear more from How to...

    Enclosure question??

What are the dimensions of your enclosure? One thing to keep in mind is that your cham will feel more secure in a cage that has more height than width and has LOTS of foliage/vines ect. What kind of lighting do you have set up?….UVB, basking? I'm just trying to figure out why you're having...

i think my panther is sick.

I think most people switch out their UVB bulbs every six months. Thats what I've done in the past but I was using 5.0 linear tubes. You might also consider some more foliage, your cage is extremely bare.

    Almost fell for a fraud

I'm getting back into chams after several years, I've kept Jacksons in the past. It sucks to hear about there being some shady people taking advantage of others, seems to be a trend no matter what kind of animals you keep. My research led me to this site and when the time comes I'll be using...

    Is this an adequate cage?

I have had Jacksons in the past and I think that cage might work. One thing I would think about is the spacing of the wire, I bet a Jacksons would have no problem walking right through it  Attaching some window screen material or something similar would fix that.

    My Chameleon Setup

In the second pic, the cage on the left needs a LOT more foliage and branches/vines to climb on. You've got a good start, the more places for the cham to hide in and climb on the better. Another thing to consider is that the farther away from the UVB bulb the cham is, the less UVB it is...

taking jackson home from HAwaii ok?

I lived on Maui for almost 9 years and kept a couple Jacksons during that time. I got them from a pet store for $20, pretty sure they were WC. I lived in an area where you could find them in the wild, between 1000ft and 2000ft elevation and after a year in that house I never saw a single one...

    Better enclosure

I had a Jacksons in a Reptarium that worked great! Raising the basking light is a good idea and as far as cleaning goes, I just threw the mesh cover out in the yard and rinsed it really good with the hose and let it air dry.

Where were you 10 yrs ago today?

I was 23 years old and living in Hawaii. I worked at a big hotel/resort and I remember talking with guests that lived on the east coast and seeing how nervous they were and how they felt very far from home. I too felt isolated from the rest of the country in a way..... the island of Maui seemed...

    Chaeleon Habitat

I think your are putting way too much thought into something that has a very easy solution:) If I am following you correctly on your concern over ventilation in the enclosures, then you might want to consider this...... you are thinking about having several screen enclosures right? What I...

    need help to identify species

So far I've spent a few months researching and preparing for owning a chameleon, just waiting for the right time :) But I am totally blown away by the number of people who post on this site who have purchased a cham and have absolutely no idea what they have, in regards to age, gender, and...

    need help to identify species

Its tough to tell from that pic, possibly a Jacksons? In your post you said you wanted to get it a friend? Probably not a good idea unless you're planning on having 2 separate enclosures. Most chameleon species are very solitary and are only found together during mating.

50 fish!? I call that catching, not fishing!! :D Always fun to have days like that. That pic is on one of my favorite Steelhead holes. It was kinda cold that day. 19 degrees when we started, a toasty 30 when this pic was taken. Busting ice out of the rod guides every couple casts. But thats...
