Hi! I was looking to start ordering insects for my veiled chameleon as opposed to buying them from the local pet stores, as it seems to be cheaper that way. I was just curious where others order from and who they think is the best. Mainly look for crickets but would also like to start her on...
Nope. I haven't had any issues with that at all. I just made sure that the wire went through the screen at the same distance of the width of the bar and haven't had any issue with damage to the screen at all.
I have a DIY screen cage that size, and to hang my pothos I laid a bar across the top of the cage and looped some picture wire around it to inside the cage so that my plant wasn't putting pressure on the screen but is hanging really from that bar.
I was misting my girl today, and for the first time she just sat there and seemed to enjoy it. It was cute. She just closed her eyes and was licking her mouth for droplets of water.
I say go with the little guy! It's so much fun watching them grow up and it will be awesome watching him come into his colors. It's like choosing the mystery box, you don't know what you're going to get, but it's exciting to find out!
I completely understand. I honestly wish we didn't sell chameleons now that I know how much is needed when it comes to their care, especially with the type of people around here. Most of the people around here want the animal but don't want to spend to get it the proper care it needs. It's sad...
Great, thanks for the idea. I think I'll do that, because seeing how small those guys were when we got them in yesterday made me scared to see them go to someone who doesn't know what they're doing.
I work for Petsmart and unfortunately we sell chameleon at our store. I'm trying to put together a list of what someone would need to buy and a bit of a general care guide for new buyers. Petsmart does provide care guides for their animals, but they do not cover enough as far as chameleons go...
It doesn't even seem like she's wanting to eat it though. She opens her mouth and flares up and then was like...what does camera taste like?! lol It really was rather amusing. She did it to my hand the other day as well. Maybe she's just silly and likes to taste things. =D
I figured it was probably just strange to her because no it's not impressive enough to reflect her. =P Was just curious if others had noticed the same behavior. Plus I found it interesting that she attacked the camera with her tongue...was she trying to eat it or will they really try to defend...
Has anyone else ever noticed that their chams don't like rings? If my veiled sees my engagement ring she automatically flares up and tries to attack it, so I've started just taking it off when handling her, but I thought it was rather curious. She also shot her tongue at the camera today. Do...
Are ants okay for a chameleon to eat? I bought a plant the other day and it was crawling in ants. I cleaned it and got rid of them before giving it to her, just in case, but it got me wondering if they are alright to feed. They're just the medium sized black ones. Just curious!
