    Update and advice needed

This is the first one that hasn't been stillborn, but it seems like he/she might have an exposed ambilicus. It is a small vascular sac that comes to a very small connection in the middle of the stomach. It was located about the same place the yolk was in the other eggs, but this is definitely...

    Update and advice needed

Well for anyone following the egg drama, I have an update. I split the clutch (kept half in the hatchrite, and did half in vermic). No significant changes overall, but a few more did go yellow. Well one single egg started sweating and shrinking this morning. I saw attempts at piping, but no...

It has been an hour with zero movement. Eyes closed, and even tried lightly misting it. No signs of life at all.

Why are the babies dying from this clutch?!?! PLEASE HELP

thanks, tried three home depots in my area. None have it! I cut one of the large white ones open. Beautifully formed baby, zero yolk, and not alive. This one had not sweat nor did it shrink. I will leave the rest alone, but fear this is an indicator for the whole clutch. I also used a good...

Why are the babies dying from this clutch?!?! PLEASE HELP

Thank you all for the advice. To answer a few questions, they all started out nice and white (the yellow ones just went yellow recently). The ones that have gotten that way are ones that have started and stopped sweating more than once. Prior to breeding this girl, I was giving calcium...

Why are the babies dying from this clutch?!?! PLEASE HELP

I do have some small pinholes at the top of the incubation container (the rubbermaid bin) for ventilation. With the humidity at 80-85% would the eggs still dry out if something did go wrong with hatchrite? I purchased it because it came highly suggested, and vermiculate is not readily available...

Why are the babies dying from this clutch?!?! PLEASE HELP

I am not even thinking about dollar signs here guys. This clutch is very special to me, and ALL I care about is the health of these animals. If I can nurse them to health, or do ANYTHING to give them a shot safely, than I am all for it. I hate thinking that these guys (fully developed babies)...

Why are the babies dying from this clutch?!?! PLEASE HELP

ok thanks. So is there anything that I should be doing differently?

Why are the babies dying from this clutch?!?! PLEASE HELP

Nope, not a single dent or pucker throughout the entire incubation process. Even the ones that did sweat, then shrank stayed nice and white...then repeated the process like a week and a half later. Then went super small and yellow. As of about an hour ago, two more now have two tiny beads...

Why are the babies dying from this clutch?!?! PLEASE HELP

No problem. From my understanding, hatchrite is designed to not have water added directly to it. I do put water at the bottom tray of the incubator though. Humidity sits between 80 and 85%. I started incubation at lower temps to break the diapause. I slowly increased it. It is now at 77...

Why are the babies dying from this clutch?!?! PLEASE HELP

I posted a previous thread about my eggs starting to act weird. They are panther cham eggs. She laid them on the 11th of November. They are in a LLL incubator. I have humidity and temp gauges inside. They are in hatchrite. No issues with electrical outages, or anything abnormal during...

    Panther Egg Question

I put water at the bottom of the incubator on a regular basis to keep humidity up. The hatchrite is not damp or wet feeling though. I haven't had any signs of denting from dehydration. I just cut one of the more yellow ones open. Looks to have had a fully developed embryo inside, but no...

    Panther Egg Question

Okay, I need some help. I have NEVER seen a cham clutch act like this before. They are panther chameleons, this is the mother's first clutch. The sire has been bred many times before. They are definitely fertile (candled them). The clutch was laid on November 11th, so we are at nine months...

Bloody Stool and vet closed for holidays

Thanks everyone. I do have the panacure at home. No er vets in my area treat exotics. Kinda of a rural area outside of Nashville. He did have another BM this morning, and it was normal. No blood at all. He is drinking, and very active. Seems fine, but I am going to take him first thing Monday...

Bloody Stool and vet closed for holidays

Hey Everyone One of my adult panther chams recently had a loose bloody stool. He has not been around any other chams in months (he is the favorite and stays in our living room). He has been drinking and acting normal. Ate several crickets this morning. No difference in behavior at all. No...

    Tail Chewing

Thanks for the input. I was totally baffled as well. I have many chams, as well as other exotics, and have owned them for several years. I have never seen anything like it. I did put some iodine on it to help stop infection. She caused a big bloody mess. That poor tail is in rough shape. The...

    Tail Chewing

Hey Everyone, My vet is out of town (of course) and one of my panther chameleon girls started a strange behavior that I had never heard of before. When I went in to mist this afternoon, she was chewing on her own tail. She was up on a branch just chomping away. I do morning inspections of...
