White stuff coming out of nose????

This is what's known in cham land as snalt. A mixture of salt and water that chameleons secrete from their nasal salt glands. It's normal and harmless; using tap water seems to cause it more than if you use reverse osmosis, or distilled water.

    Hard water stains on screen

I ran out of distilled water last night so I used filtered tap water from the fridge to run my fogger. Well it pooled up some water and dried and now has white mineral deposit on the top screen. Anyone know the best way to get rid of these? More water to scrub it a little on both sides and then...

    Hard water stains on screen

Yep a little distilled water and a clean sponge. Dont use paper towels they will shred into tiny pieces. If it is stuck in the holes use a tooth pick.

New cham owner. Sometimes she blows a little liquid out of her nose. (?)

Kinyonga asked if the fluid is white in color. Snalt, as it's called here, is basically a result of using hard tap water in your misting regimen. Chameleons will expel the extra minerals from the water through their little nose holes. I believe it's fairly harmless, but if this is the case, it...

Thanks for the speedy reply, that’s almost what I had in mind, and most definitely used paper towel and quickly realized I shouldn’t do that lmao.

    RO Water Remineralization

The only need for RO/distilled water is if you have a misting or fogging system. You will get everything covered with white powder etc, and clog up your system (and need to bacteria clean) if you dont use distilled etc. The remineralization cartridge is a "flavor enhancer". Its not for making...

...And does it matter what type of water? I can really only reliably grab "purified water", while most people here recommend RO water or distilled water for their misters. Maybe this is not an issue for something you're supposed to clean on a weekly basis? 3: Since it's mentioned that most...

    Dripper, Mister & Fogger Questions

I can’t speak to the mister and fogger, but I love my mist kings! You can use whatever size reservoir you want with them, I use 2-5 gallon buckets. You set what time you want the mister to turn on and how long you want it to go. You do have to use distilled or RO water. I’m also curious to...

Small Carnivorous Plant for Inside Enclosure

...work the best. I don’t keep them in the enclosure, I but I sit them on the top or next to my enclosures in a dish of distilled water. The gnats I’ve dealt with are drawn right to them and get stuck. I’ve had them catch thousands in a day before. With that said, some people seem to have gnats...

New cham owner. Sometimes she blows a little liquid out of her nose. (?)

Yes, I saw that and forgot to reply. Unfortunately it was such a small, fine mist that I could not tell what color it was. Clear would be my best guess. We use strictly RO water for her and will definitely continue to do so. Yesterday she did have some additional symptoms such as a couple back...

    RO Water Remineralization

We have a remineralizing part of our drinking water RO/DI system. Even with that the TDS is still super low. They seem to be mostly for flavor. I’m not sure how much it would actually impact clogging misters or nutrients. I guess it would depend how much it is adding to the water. I wouldn’t...

Poor guy. Hope some expert's chime in soon... Can you regulate his temperature? What's the temp outside? Definitely add some leafy branches to that box and spray them thoroughly with distilled water if you can.

    Mold on Cage?

There is nothing wrong with using tap or unsoftened water. But if you have live plants, well they are also going to get covered with the calcium over time. That is not fun to get off (some masochists hand wipe each leaf). And it will destroy your misting nozzles and humidifier if you dont...
