    Fish tank UV sterilizers

...to kill large parasitic cysts and aren't the greatest at cleaning out bacteria. Plus, now you've got dead bacteria in your water. I use RO water for my aquariums anyway, so I always have some to spare for my chams. Avoid full RO/DI, it can be hazardous to drink, so instead see if you can...

    Fish tank UV sterilizers

Thank you all for the good feedback! That’s interesting that it worked well for those. I was just considering it for the safe to drink aspect, definitely don’t expect it to purify the water of other chemicals/metals/etc I used RO/DI(saltwater tanks) and RO(for reptiles/other) as well. I was...

    Mist nozzles go bad?

RO/DI water should have pretty low total dissolved solids. I think the water I use measures around 8-10 TDS

    Ordering supplies for new cham

No I haven't I probably won't be able to afford a whole house system but I will look into it. I have just heard that it isn't good for us (people) to drink ro water all the time due to it removing all the minerals and what not that's why I really wanted that one.

    Ordering supplies for new cham

Hi everyone I was talking to @MissSkittles about ro filters and she said they were great to use for my cham's water but I was hoping someone could tell me if it would be better to get a 5 stage or an 11 stage. If anyone can please let me know I would greatly appreciate it. The pictures show what...

    Sodium & Chloride sky high

I had always used tap water before all of these issues arose. Everyone said I should use distilled/filetered/ro(vet included) so I started filtering it and then after a month or so, the problemsstarted popping up one by one. However, maybe he is missing some vital nutrients that are in the tap...

Revamped Misting system and fogger combo

Yeah it seems like I come home from work and that’s what I do for the first hour Fill RO etc. . Now I just keep a 5 gallon bucket next to the sink in our laundry . My RO system doesn’t make that much water I can do about 5 to 10 gallons a day put five in each tank . I can go almost a week...

    Fish tank UV sterilizers

My two penneys: UV sterilisers would only really be beneficial to taking water from an off grid (non water treatment municipal) like lake water,. Ground water, swamp water. Reason being uvc sterilisers actually dont kill bacteria but mutates them to be unable to reproduce. Doesn't do much to...

    Fish tank UV sterilizers

I have used one to solve algae blooms, and ich in marine tanks. I don't think they will actually make the water purified. You still need a RO filter or distilled for that.

    Ordering supplies for new cham

Unfortunately I have no experience with home filtration I lug my 5 gallon jugs back and forth to the water store one a week or so. Hopefully someone else with some first hand experience can chime in.

Has anyone here had any experience with a machine that distills water? They sell them on amazon

i checked out the RO system you suggested @MissSkittles but for every gallon of RO water it makes 4 gallons of waste water go down the drain. I don’t pay for my water bill, the apartment owner does and I don’t think they would allow that. The only other thing I can find is a water distiller and...

    RO Water

Is it 0 tds? Do you do anything to remineralise it? I suppose I could bypass the DI stage of my ro unit, this gives me water with about 2 tds.

Question regarding distilled/RO water and misting system. (Distilled not bad for arboreal reptiles?)

Distilled water is fine to use in misters and foggers but should not be used in hand sprayers or drippers because it is deionized and can leach minerals. Misting and fogging introduces ions. I have now gone to using a half distilled half RO mix in my misting system to reduce the cost. I have no...

    Tamura design

Thanks Jann and I say acrylic hands down. Especially with the wind system. After a period even with ro water it will get a bit of water spotting but I use tub & tile cleaner from Grove- is safe and works like magic. To me the inner screen door defeats the purpose visually. If you have more...

    Mist nozzles go bad?

I replaced both of my nozzles in Beman's last year when we moved because they were not misting the way they should have. That was after like two and a half years of using them and only with RO water.

Will she recover? The battle continues . . .

Can I use the syringe to give her some warm RO/DI water? She seems interested in the water dripping from her dripper but I haven't witnessed her taking any of it in yet. Sue

    Mist nozzles go bad?

I use this one. I suspect over time junk clogs them all up eventually even if you use RO water https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B079DN9DRS?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
