It does seem to be going away after switching the water. It has actually gotten a bit more white and now after about a week of distilled water it’s much less, so I believe that was the problem. Thanks again everyone

If you use distilled water it will be very acidic. This is great for acid loving plants like azalea but a lot could be harmful to plants that need alkaline. So check which pH hydrangea prefers.
