...to about 65 CFM (1800 rpm). Is the placement of the UVB lamp is okay like this and won't be harmful to the chameleon? Can i give only distilled water for the chameleon or i should use a dripper with normal tap water (we have quite hard water at my location)? I use only distilled water in the...

    Water Choice for Hydrating

Distilled or RO only. Other water will put spots on everything including plants and quickly destroy MK nozzles. You can save a ton of time and money if you make your own.

    Water Choice for Hydrating

IIRC the most it matters is how it affects your equipment. I have well water. I have tanks setup, and I add salt. I use water right out of the faucet and I've had no issues with either my chameleon, or the mister or fogger. With that being said, I also never let them dry up. I always keep...

    Water Choice for Hydrating

Our rule of thumb is to use any water that has under 5-10 total dissolved solids (TDS). We have particularly hard water where we live and everything through our faucets is run through the salt softening system that I don't want being pumped into the enclosures. I treat water for the chams...

A few questions from a new veiled chameleon owner

.../ infrared temp gun recommended in the "Veiled Chameleon Owner's Manual" by Jonathan Durham? Should I be using spring water or distilled water for misting? I've heard arguments for both. How often do you mist your enclosure manually (for veiled chameleons specifically)? I've read competing...

    New chameleon parent

I can’t thank you enough. I am disappointed that I didn’t do the best research and let myself fall to the word of another big box company, but I will fix my inadequacy of research and injustice upon her (I’ve also decided on the name Artemisia) .

...here. I can't vouch for it. I personally think it would be less questionable to purchase gallons of reverse osmosis water or steam distilled water. As for the vitamin supplementation, if you're not aware, you must follow a certain schedule. Calcium without D3 is for every feeding, however on...

...nearest vet I could find that said they are familiar with chameleons was 1 1/2 hours away. It was Pennyroyal in Lexington. I only use distilled water. He is only handled when he willingly comes out of his cage and I have to put him back in(when door is open while feeding.) I believe the eye...

The start of Fungal dermatitis ?

It does seem to be going away after switching the water. It has actually gotten a bit more white and now after about a week of distilled water it’s much less, so I believe that was the problem. Thanks again everyone

Is the collected water good for plants?

If you use distilled water it will be very acidic. This is great for acid loving plants like azalea but a lot could be harmful to plants that need alkaline. So check which pH hydrangea prefers.

My panther cham egg started sweating!!!!

The next time you’re at the grocery store pick up a couple gallons of distilled water. It’s 99 cents a gallon and a great way to give your reptiles safe drinking water without any chemical additives. Also keeps plant leaves from developing that ashy mineral scale look from minerals in tap water.
