    New trans veiled male

...temps for veiled baby. Thinking 85 just a bit warmer then the Panthers. Also I have a transplanted pothos in there. With a few pieces of perlite from organic potting soil mix. Should I be concerned of him eating this perlite? Thinking with him being so little. I took my other plant out that...

Has anyone found a bagged (potting, top) soil that doesn't contain perlite, etc. (impaction hazards)?

    Chameleons plant issue

I made a new thread in that section. Laying bins are what was recommended 50/50 organic Playsand an organic potting soil. Potting soil had perlite or white stuff in it. Other two females don't climb very well seem tipsy an sluggish. But they are eating an have uvb an correct Temps so not sure...

What is this nasty stuff in my soil??

...but who knows, it could be. Has anyone ever encountered this? I’m using natures made organic raised bed soil because believe it or not this was the only potting type soil I could find between lowes and Home Depot that didn’t have perlite. If someone could give me some advise here, that’d be...

    White worms on egg

...for worms. So it's very unlikely these worms were inside the egg originally. Thus, they came from the soil the eggs were laid in or the perlite. Hopefully transferring them to a new container will, if nothing else, buy you enough time so even if there are worm eggs on the chameleon eggs, in...

    Egg count for female ambilobe

...substrate were you using in the laybin? How big/deep was the bin? You said..."I was able to retrieve 14 eggs that were placed on moist perlite"...they look fertile. You said..."1) should I be lookin for more eggs in the other pots or does 14 sound like all she might have been carrying? She...

    Mealworms colony

So why is perlite bad for insects to be on? The concern is really just impaction(which I've never seen happen, though I'd be careful with smaller chams). Certain fertilizers I can see, but even organic soil has fertilizers(doesn't mean they're necessarily dangerous)...

    New trans veiled male

Yes be concerned about perlite. As their tongues are so stong they pull in whatever they hit while hunting. I do not like rocks cause they can go down the gullet too. So i covered the soil of all my plants wirh screen. I tuck into down the sides then fold under any sharp edges. I am very happYt...

    Egg count for female ambilobe

...coir mix. It was moist enough to hold tunnels. Also made sure there was a branch that provided entry into the bucket. I just noticed the perlite I was able to find is enriched with miracle grow nutrients. Would you still lean towards leaving them in perlite? The nutes makes me think I...

    Bioactive Substrate

Pumice—like perlite—is a volcanic rock. Among other things, it's the gritty stuff in Lava soap, and it floats on water. I'd consider it an "etc." (impaction hazard) in my OP.

...a lay bin but She dug a hole and layed inside of the potted hibiscus plant instead. I was able to retrieve 14 eggs that were placed on moist perlite. I have ordered vermiculite as my garden store didnt have any in stock. My questions are the following: 1) should I be lookin for more eggs...

    Bioactive Substrate

Arguably, for chams that dig, taste, eat soil. https://www.chameleonforums.com/search/1225814/?q=perlite&o=relevance I can cover pots with river pebbles, but IDK about bioactive enclosures.

    Little black bugs everywhere

...in mind she uses pumice, which you can use, however to prevent your chams from getting into it, I’d put a 2-3” layer of plain coco coir on top. Orchid bark is a better bet. NO perlite. Also, skip the step where she adds slow release fertilizer. It’s not safe for chams. Hopefully this helps!

    Urate looks like an egg?

The new mixture is washed play sand and jungle mix! No perlite. It’s moist and she has been digging at it randomly should I put a sheet up around the center and leave her alone? Do I turn the lights on/off regular schedule? I have her water dripper normal schedule and misting. The egg was found...
