    Basking Light bulbs

Hi, I wanted to know if these light bulbs would work as the basking light. I know the suggested lights are supposed to be BR30 but I can’t find any non LED ones. I originally got the ZooMed 60w but it was on for a lil over a week (12hrs each day) before it burned out. Tried looking online for...

    New Chameleon Parent

Oh, just noticed, I would drop max basking temps to about 85-87, they can burn easily. It happened to me at the beginning. But my guy is good and healthy still. I just feel terrible to this day.

    burn?

wondering what this mark is. It appears like skin but I dont believe its shedding as he literally just did that last week. He has been close to uvb bulb as a plant grew up to top of enclosure where i noticed him hanging out. I have cut the plant back so he cant bask there no more

Roughly how tall are adult, fully grown male panthers?

The basking branch distance is dictated by your UVB. If you are using the recommended standard T5 with either Arcadia 6% or ReptiSun 5.0, then the distance for the ideal UVB level is 8-9”. If you are afraid that your basking bulb will cause a burn, place your hand at the level your chameleon...

    Panther chameleon

Ok. Is he walking upside down on the screen? If so, you’ll need to rise your basking light a few inches give it so he doesn’t get burned. I just get small wire baskets from the dollar store to lift my lights, since it’s only until he gets too big to wok upside down like that. You may also need...

    Cage hanging

I think mine only stopped when they became too heavy to walk upside down. Heck, if I could do it too, I would! 😂 Until he outgrows this, for burn prevention you want to elevate your basking light a couple of inches above the screen. Since it’s just temporary, I’ve always used little wire...

    Panther chameleon

I’m running a 75w. He sits on the leaf about 3-4 “ from the top to bask. Thank you!

Roughly how tall are adult, fully grown male panthers?

Well you have to take into account the male has a large casque. I would keep the permanent temp gauge right where his head would sit. I always keep his bask at 84-85 with a dimmer switch if it got too hot in the summer. My vet and I had a go around about it as he thought 90-95 degrees was better...

    Baby Veiled Chameleon basking/lighting help

Hello, brand new chameleon owner here. I have a question regarding lighting & basking. I currently am using the Reptisun 5.0HO combo lamp and a 100W basking bulb for my 1 month (I think?) old chameleon. I am struggling to understand the requirements of these and how it all works together for...

What to do if your chameleon has a burn!

In this video, we’re talking about a crucial topic for all chameleon owners: how to prevent and treat thermal burns. Chameleons are sensitive to temperature changes, and burns can occur if their basking spots are too hot or if they get too close to heat sources.

Roughly how tall are adult, fully grown male panthers?

Google is only giving me how long they are, and occasionally how wide they are lol. Im having a hard time getting a straight answer on if I need to account for their height regarding the “6-8” distance basking branch” rule of thumb due to the fact I have a halogen bulb so it sits higher in the...

    Signs of respiratory infections??

My chams also do this, if it's too hot. How hot is the basking area? How are you measuring your heat/hydro? One like this is most recommended. If it were an RI, they'd most often tip their head back/upward, and you might hear a wheezing sound. Also, if it's too hot they'll burn themselves...

    Is he ok? (First post)

Hi and welcome. 🙂 I’m not sure what coloring you’re asking about and it’s kind of hard to see him in your pics. Maybe you can provide some clearer pics and explain what color or area you’re concerned bout. I can tell you that a few things need to be improved. 32c is a bit too hot for him. A...

    Possible thermal burn?

Less than a month ago I noticed these spots on my panther chameleons side. This was often the side he would lean towards the light when basking so I thought it might be a thermal burn. I got him new lighting, lifted if from the top of the cage and regularly check his temperature with my thermal...

    Concerned about panther chameleons face

Hi. I believe you need a visit to a good vet and soon. I don’t like the look of that black area…the way it is recessed from the surrounding scales makes me think it may be necrotic (dead). Whether from a burn, injury or other event, if it is necrotic, it needs special care and precautions to...

Keep finding him on the roof!

Mine was just literally suspended from the ceiling, nothing holding her up but her own tail, I have a vine that leads up there but when I saw this I immediately panicked and went to save her and put her on a branch.
