    Time to upgrade

...placed them in. Really starting to come together, hopefully I can get it up and starting to cycle tonight. I still have to add the two pitcher plants, the bromeliad, a spider plant, the other Pothos, the begonia rex and a few rooted Pothos clippings. Also realized that the one white...

    Kinyongia breakthrough and crazy positions

He is self-taught! Since I wrote this he changed where he sleeps; there is a little pitcher the same size/color as him, and he sleeps on the tendril it is attached to where it dips down, with one foot on top of the pitcher. I am dying to get a pic but it is down near the bottom and there is...

Chameleon learned to drink out of my guppy tank by trying to catch the fish. Don’t worry he is unable to catch them because of their protective slome.

If it floats or comes to surface, probably. I dropped a nearly dead fly in a pitcher of a pitcher plant, and was horrified to see him a few minutes shoot and eat it. Thank goodness no ill effects but now I know I can't do that!

    Nepenthes care and benefits

Basically, both from reading and personal experience, keeping carnivorous plants of any type is a challenge to some, like keeping chameleons, while others might have a natural knack for it. I bought a venus fly trap as a kid and it survived for over 5 years, only died when it decided to try and...

Carnivorous plants in habitat - good or bad?

...job. Assuming you have a 48" cage I don't think there is any CP that will do well unless you have extremely powerful lights-even a Jungle Dawn is not enough for that distance. VFT and American Pitcher Plants are a no-go unless you are willing to take them outside for the winter for dormancy.

ya, pitcher plants trap bugs in side easily but a lizard im sure coud bolt out so they seem safe but i just love venus fly traps, pitcher plants also look more tropical so id rather put them in

A Carnivorous Plant Has Been Hiding in Plain Sight in North America

You'd win. I can't find any confirmation of that, but I do find there are Pitcher Plants & Sundews in Maine. https://www.csmonitor.com/The-Culture/Gardening/2008/0725/insects-beware-these-plants-want-you If you could find those fly traps, you may have discovered something significant.

Until your chameleon gets bigger and until your husbandry’s 100%, I wouldn’t put any carnivorous plant in

    Gnat-eaters

That is absolutely gorgeous! 😍 I wonder if they’re available here in Hawaii? I’m gonna have to do some research and maybe make a couple trips to the nurseries. I’ve already got my eyes on a pitcher plant 🤩

    I have too many animals

For sure. About 100 Venus Fly Traps, some temperate sundews/butterworts and countless pitcher plants are outside as we speak just coming out of dormancy; I counted about pitcher 40 blooms getting ready to pop. I'll send a pic when they peak. It does not get very cold in Socal obviously but it...

    Carnivorous plant question

Thank you it is disgusting what is in our tapwater but I know carnivorous plants need to stay moist or they first lose their pitcher then soon die so it just if there was no other options
