    tame

I just got my panther today. The store had been working with him for a few months to tame him. They say that hand-feeding is the most important element in the process. They also recommend placing your cham in a high-traffic area so as to get him used to your presence.

    My New Friend!!!

I picked this gem up today! He is my first Panther, and I am very excited to have him. He was been tamed over the past several months by the great employees at a local pet shop. They were very sad to see him leave. I must say, however, they did a great job working with him. He's so...

    Lighting for bromeliads

To be honest, I am no sure. Got them from Lowes and the only tag said "Bromeliad." I can tell you that it has had some degree of color (red) since it was purchased several months ago. The red has faded, however, to a light pink.

    Hamburg Reptile Expo

I won't be able to go to the Expo Center. I always work Saturdays and Sundays. It was a stretch to take off this past weekend!

    Lighting for bromeliads

Looking to improve my track record with bromeliads. I have not lost one, but they tend to lose their color and grow very slowly. On top my my vivarium (an 18x18x36 skyscraper) I have a Naturalistic Terrarium Hood by ZooMed. What kinds of bulbs would you recommend to enhance the color in these...

    Hamburg Reptile Expo

Had a great time yesterday. Made an impulse purchase: Mexican King Snake. My wife has dealt with snakes in the past, but this is my first. Hopefully Gifford likes his new home!

    Hamburg Reptile Expo

Hey there! So, I have never been to one of these before, but I plan to attend tomorrow's event. Is this something that I need to get to when the doors open, or can you show up later on throughout the day? Do I miss a lot if I don't arrive early? What can I expect. Very excited, nonetheless...

API Safe & Clean Glass Cleaner

***Update*** After talking to a few people that I know, I decided that the API product would be safe. A few weeks after using it, I can confirm that there were no ill effects! It worked well, too!

    Going Away for Five Days

That's not a bad idea Miss Maisie. On the other hand, would vegetables be enough for him in the interim?

    Irwin Showing off

This guy has been so much fun. He is growing well and seems to almost enjoy the occasional photoshoot. He never snaps or hisses...ever! As long as we feed him a wax worm or two he stays quite content!

    Going Away for Five Days

Hello, I will be traveling for just under five days. I have a friend coming to check on Irwin, but they aren't entirely comfortable feeding. They've agreed to make sure that the mister is running properly and that the humidity is where it needs to be. Is five days too long to go without...

    Food and Treats?

I just fed my veiled his first hornworm...omg, he LOVED it. I hear that they are very fatty, so they should only be fed as a treat (much like wax worms). However, because they are so juicy, they are great to avoid dehydration.

    R.O./D.I.

I use the DI portion of my filter for saltwater tanks. Generally not necessary for fish only set ups, but if you are doing a reef tank with live coral it is very helpful.

    R.O./D.I.

DI water should not be necessary. Unless you use products such as RO Right, it will sap the minerals out of your chameleon. We can't drink it and neither should they.
