Over here in the Netherlands we give our chameleons fruit beetle larvae occasionally. Larvae of Pachnoda margarinata. It looks exactly like the larvae picture in this thread. Isn't this a feeder type in the US? They're very nutritious and good for additional hydration but also contain a lot of fat.
LOL! My Pete loves them but really chew on them.
It shocked the hell out of me the first time I felt that. They don't draw blood like the fruit beetle larva but you can definately feel it! :D
Last night I saw that he is on the brink of shedding ;-). Is that also a reason that he is not feeling very well? I experienced the same with my Pete (Veiled).
This looks very nice for your new cham! You can also put some old newspapers on the bottom, so it can soak up any excess water from misting or from the dripper, and can be replaced for new ones every day or two days.
He can get out of the light/heat whenever he wants, but i can imagine that sunbathing and basking are two different things, that's why i'm going to adjust the lighting this weekend. But I will use the Powersun again if he is grown up i think.
I also used this size cage for my veiled. As long...
Powersun is considered a high quality light by the Dutch chameleon society. This type of light is used in larger enclosures though. But there are also a lot of members who use linear tube lights, but then from Arcadia.

Can I use the Powersun when he is an adult? 'Cause over here it is considered a very high quality UV bulb. But I think indeed it is to...
Hi Carol, thanks for your reply. Isn't Zoomed Powersun used in the US? It is recommended for chameleons, but only in high enclosures. I'm just wondering if it maybe to high output for a young panther. But it is a combinationlamp, UVB and warmth in one.
