You need to get that girl some more pathways, especially up higher in the cage and more foliage up top for her to hide in. She is most likely not getting much UVB at all because of how far away she is from the lamp. Also a suggestion is to get rid of the coil type UVB as they are still causing...
Unfortunately for my little guy, he has to wake up close to when I do or he would get fed too late in the evening and not have time to digest it. I wake up at 5:30am and his lights come on at 6:00am and my lights are on until 8:00pm. It is 14 hours, but that unfortunately is what needs to...
For the supplements, you want Calcium with NO D3 daily, Calcium WITH D3 2 times per month, and Multi-Vitamin 2 times per month. This is the standard supplementation schedule for a panther.
Basking temp is way too warm. Try to get it as close to 82 as you can. The care sheets are your friend!
Oh man, I forgot to answer the question though as well. Yes, you can use both, but the amount of UVB is important so you might not need to is what I was getting at.
Just remember that you don't want the UVB to hit every part of the cage. They need to be able to go in and out of it at their will. Do you have a UVB meter? If not, it is a good investment so that you know if they are getting good enough UVB. I just got mine and it made me feel better...
I wish the quad unit was around when I ordered mine, but it was not so I got the dual setup. I will be getting two more cages at some point so I will be buying the 72" quad setup once I get those cages so I will be all set then! :D
Nimh is getting more and more color.
The first two are him as he was in the back of the cage a little mad at me because I had just cleaned his cage and the other one he is happier and back to his normal resting colors.
Just get a higher wattage bulb for basking. That will help heat the cage and you should be all set then. Chams at night can go down into the 50's so that is alright.
Go to Home Depot and for less than $10 you can get timers. I have been using these timers for years for many different reasons and I have never had one go bad.
You are so lucky that your little one actually lets you handle him. My little guy will not let me touch him. When I get near him he runs away as fast as he can and gets his black stripes on him. I am slowly working on getting him to trust me, but it is going to be a long process with this...
I have an automated MistKing and my cham HATED the mister when I first got it, now when it goes off he scurries to where it can fall directly on him. He does the eye bulge thing to clean out his eyes and I have even caught him opening his mouth to let the water come in while the mister is...
If it saves the life of my chameleon the $177 that I just spent on the meter is well worth the cost. I currently only have 1 cage, but I want to make sure that I am taking the proper care of my chameleon and that means the money is worth it.
You can definitely do that, but it would be nice to have a single cage that is that big. The only problem I could see with it though is that you would still need a brace in the middle of the 4'x4' panel which would be huge and if it was the front that would be an even bigger door to open which...
