    Trident took a fall today

I would use kale instead of spinach for your crickets. Also, sweet potatoes are good for gutloading your insects. Also, as previously mentioned, try not to handle your cham too much as he gets acclimated to his new home. Good looking Jacksons!!!

    Chameleon Life Expectancy

Anyone else? There is nothing scientific here, I'm just trying to see what kinds of experiences people have had with their chams.

    angry colors

Did you notice the darker colors while he was basking? Most chameleons tend to get dark as they're basking. They will sometimes gape as they bask also.

    Chameleon Life Expectancy

I'd like to get some feedback from experienced keepers to see how long you've been able to keep your chams in your care. I know things can happen very quickly and unexpectedly with these creatures. So, I think it would be interesting to compare the different species life cycles. If...

    Worm size rule?

I think that space between the eyes rule is not so true. My girl will take crickets as big as her head! She's a freak about them damn crickets!

    Sonja

I've had her in my care for about a month now and she had grown from the boy I thought she was into a good looking pre-pubescent girl. First pic is from Feb. 6 and the second is from today. I think she will make a fine breeder. I will carefully search for her boyfriend as I only want the...

    Gravid K. Tavetana?

I think you may want to let it hatch on it's own. Too bad you lost one. It looks like it may have been developing well. Again, my inclination would be to let it hatch naturally. Also, check around this site to be sure the conditions you are providing are ideal.

    Grasshopper?

If you can be certain that the insect was not exposed to any pesticides or chemicals that could be harmful or fatal to your chameleon, you could feed it.

    Silkworms and Hornworms

She still refuses to take the hornworms. She did take a superworm, for the first time. However, she would not take a second one. She won't even take dubia roaches any longer. On the other hand, she still goes after crickets very aggressively. My fear is that she is not...

    Silkworms and Hornworms

Nick, I've done exactly as you described and she gives a quick glance and turns away. I'm not sure what to do to get her to eat them. But, at least, she has a healthy appetite for crickets and roaches.

How old is my veiled chameleon

Very young. No more than 4 months old, in my amateur opinion.

    Hornworm addict - staple food?

HA! That's my girl who, so far, refuses to eat the hornworms that I present to her. But, from what I've read, you should limit hornworms as they can be high in fat. I'm sure others with much more knowledge will offer more information.

    Silkworms and Hornworms

I'm using smaller hornworms. I'll keep trying. She goes crazy for crickets and will take about 6 from my hand before she walks away. But, she will not take a hornworm from my hand.

    Silkworms and Hornworms

Well.... At this point, all of the silkworms are dead. They did not arrive in the best condition as the weather is very cold here in NH. So, I may try silks again, later. The hornworms are doing well but my cham seems to be afraid of them. I place one on a vine within her view and she...
