new/shy chameleon won't eat??--- try stick feeding

From time to time, I see people with new chams worry because their guy/girl hasn't eaten for days since being introduced into their new home. This is normal behavior due to stress and unfamiliarity to the animal in it's new surroundings and varies in intensity from one individual to another...

Sigh think end might be near?

I hope that I don't stir the pot with this comment but,,, why does this thread upset me? From what I've read, I'm getting the impression that the OP is just spectating while the cham is obviously going downhill. Their statement of, "I'm not sure the vet could do anything for him at this...

My cham dosent eat inside the house

I'm telling ya, get rid of the basking light. It's just adding more heat to an already hot environment. Just make sure he still gets his UVB light. Getting rid of the basking light will also lower overall cage ambient temps and he can use the UVB bulb as the heat source while still having...

My cham dosent eat inside the house

With ambient temps being 80-81 degrees, I'd think that a basking spot wouldn't even be necessary anymore. Isn't a basking spot just so they can raise body temperature because the cage is normally 70-75 degrees for most people? I have a very accurate SnapOn laser temp gun and I've taken my...

can hydei fruit flies climb on packing tape?

I know that melanogaster can climb glass. I wouldn't think that hydei would be any different. With that said, I'm gonna guess that they would be able to climb packing tape.... Just a guess though...:)

    Is photinia okay for chameleons

I don't know anything about that plant but if you researched it and found that it releases cyanide when ingested, I wouldn't take that chance. If you use it, you'll have that knowledge in the back of your mind and you'll always be worried about that "one time" when your cham decides to eat it...

    Panic!!!

I couldn't help but also notice the light coming in at an angle. I'm worried that if you angle the light too close so that his branch is around 90-95 degrees, then the highest spot where he is currently basking on might get too hot. Is there a way you could position the light to shine straight...

    Panic!!!

If you are only getting 82-84 degrees both verified by 2 reliable thermometers, then I would believe that is the actual temp. I would invest in a digital thermometer w/ probe and a temp gun if you can. In your pics, you're reading below 80 degrees even. That temp is not warm enough for him...

    Mouth gaping

I hope when you say "put the fan on him" you don't mean literally. Try to avoid direct drafts towards him. If you just want to cool down the ambient temps, aim the fan away from him. It should still circulate the air in the room achieving your goal and keeps him away from the draft. Also...

    Update on Specs's condition :/

Wow, I feel so bad for this cham :( OP, I would very seriously consider the offer made by laurie... At this point with your lack of transportation/funds to give him proper attention, this is pretty much the only option left. It would be very selfish not to. I hope I don't offend you...

    carpet chameleon enclosure

The first guy that I got had some sort of "butt issue" https://www.chameleonforums.com/does-look-okay-80458/ I don't think it was anything health related but rather issues with how large his hemipenis was which I theorized was pushing against his anus causing it to bulge out. He acted...

    carpet chameleon enclosure

While waiting for my carpet replacement, I decided to redo the enclosure. The old enclosure had a ficus and pothos but I found that guy would only hang out on the vines and never go into the plants. The new design utilizes more open space but with plenty more paths to choose. I hope the new...

    Post Shed

Krayola just got out of a shed a few days ago and he just keeps getting more and more intense. I need to stop being so cheap and get a nice camera that can capture his true colors because my current one doesn't even come close to his real life vibrance... Anywho,, just thought I'd share them...
