I posted this topic a while ago, but now I have pictures. To me this looks like the bones that launch his tongue are just sitting in his throat. When he moves this bump goes away. I think it's just his neck. It has been there for a while now and hasn't changed. Any thoughts? This picture shows...
Sorry about your veiled. Everything else is awesome, though! I'm glad you have a good vet and lots of knowledge. It really is sad when people animals and buy one just because they are neat. I don't think Home Depot has one, but you could make one. I'm sure Home Depot has the supplies.
Congrats on the deposit! I recommend doing a ton of research. You have to know symptoms to look for, proper lighting, proper supplementation. If you really did fall in love with this chameleon, then you have to know how to keep him healthy. I would also recommend looking for a local reptile vet...
The half log I was talking about is actually that potted plant in the back. The live plants might not last long with that light. Do you know if those plants are chameleon safe? Is the soil in the pots chameleon safe? Your cage needs a complete overhaul.
Also, just because I recommended lots of cover that doesn't mean you should make the space so crammed that your cham cannot move. I'm am very concerned about the light. It is a safety hazard for you chameleon if it's in a cage that small. You could accidentally spray it and break it and hurt...
I would get rid of the dirt, half log, and change the position of the light. Chams like to climb. If you change your enclosure with more vines, he may be too close to the light and get severe burns if climbs on it. You also need more leaves for cover. He has to be able to climb and hide at the...
He is almost 2 years old. I have not weighed him in a while because I don't own a gram scale. I agree with slower metabolism. He eats regularly but only poops about once a week. I rarely see him drink so I usually spray him for long periods and also give him lettuce. His urates after sitting in...
On occasion, my cham sits still but is awake and alert. He doesn't move for hours. Once after I took him out of his cage for a long time, he seemed extremely afraid when I put him back in his cage. He calmed down and found an perch in the middle of the cage. He sat there for almost 2 days...
Has anyone gone back and looked at their oldest posts? I thought it was pretty interesting. I actually posted some things that, at that time, were helpful. Now that I reread them, I find them obnoxious and completely useless. Has anyone else looked at their old posts?
